Finnex stingray 20 inch. Getting it on a dimmer

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I watched the vid on the finnex stingray light and how Dean soldered the dimmer onto the Stingray. I was wondering if this necessary or could it just be plug and play with the dimmer right out of the box?

I purchased the same dimmers from the video and was able to connect them even though it was a tight fit. It seems to be dimming properly, should I be worried it's gonna burn down my house or break the light prematurely if I don't solder it like Dean did in the video?

Link to vid of Dean working his magic on the light.

Thanks in advance for the response.

You are only dealing low voltage (because it's after the transformer) and low amperage (because it's LEDS) and you won't hurt the light so I wouldn't worry too much. The only thing that might happen is if you have a bad connection at your plugs it could get hot and burn the connection. But you say it fits tight and it works so that sounds good.

I would touch test at your connection for heat after it's on for a few hours and then you will know for sure. If it's cool to the touch all is well.
