Black Driftwood Fungus Removal

Hey all,

I have black fungus growing on my driftwood I I’d like to remove it. I know the fungus is harmless but it sort of accumulated in my clown pleco’s favorite spot and he doesn’t seem as fascinated with the wood as he used to be. I tried scrubbing it but it came back. Any suggestions?

If you can take it out of the tank. Soak it in hydrogen peroxide scrub it off with an unused toothbrush or paper towels. Rinse thoroughly and that should remove it and kill it off so it does not come back quickly.

I'd go with the peroxide solution but I'd only spray it, scrub and leave it to totally dry out. Be aware, this will kill everything, both good and bad bacteria.

I've found that Pimafix wipes out most fungus with minimal side-effects. You can use it in tank without having to remove anything.
