April0617
Seems like my brown diatoms are starting to slow down, but now I have this... Looks like it's mostly on the older leaves of the micro sword, but I'm also seeing a little on my baby tears, the older parts that were grown out of water. What is it and what should I do? (Please and thank you😁) Edited January 12, 2022 by April0617 Adding picture
Patrick_G
It looks like staghorn to me. I like to start with less light, try seven hours per day. If you don’t already have a clean up crew then look into some Amano Shrimp and Otocinclus. I’m not entirely sure they will eat this type of algae but it’s worth a try. I find that since the Microsword grows so slowly it can be an algae magnet if it gets to much light. In my tanks it seems to actually do better with a little shade.
