String algae problems

I have that in my tank. I’ve seen people online call it “thread algae.” It’s tough stuff and I’ve never been able to eradicate it completely. However, I can keep it in check by removing as much as I can by hand and keeping amano shrimp in the tanks where it’s a problem. They won’t eat it all, but they’ll keep it from taking over.

Something else I’ve noticed: thread algae grows best in the higher light areas. Try to shade the areas where it’s growing. Or you could try killing it off completely by leaving your tank in total darkness for a few days.
