@Chick-In-Of-TheSea I did not, it’s hard to tell, it looks like it could be dead tissue still hanging on or maybe he damaged his slime coat there. FYI I also have a 20in channel cat, I doubt he would’ve done anything though.

Nitrate: 20
Nitrite: 0
GH: 75
Chlorine: less than .5(I’ll put some conditioner in)
KH: 120-180
PH: 7.8-8.4
I used the Tetra Easy Strips to get this info.

Noticed this a couple days ago in my pond, none of the other fish have anything like this or any other problem.

@ColuGreat thanks for the help, I’ll definitely have to get those test strips.
-
@ColuThanks, I just looked up ammonia burn and it looks the same as what they have. Is there anything I can do to help them recover?

No nothing unsual, water parameters seem normal. They seem pretty normal

1. Algae that’s REALLY hard to scrape off
2. Fish poop and other gunk that gets in between my rocks and is hard to gravel vac up.

Thanks for the help, I think I’ll get the Imagatarium Brooklyn stands for $65.

That’s so awesome, what are you planning to do with them?
-
I used to have one of those 2.5g betta tanks. Eventually I got a 15g.
-
Planning on getting a 29g tank but it will probably cost more than the tank itself to buy a stand for it. Do you know of any cheap stands to buy that look nice?
-
@Fish FolkAwesome! Thanks for your help. I’m thinking might just go with a 29g, I’d like to be able to have a few darters and a little more variety than in a 20 gallon.

I’d recommend a 20 gal or larger if you’re getting into Enneacanthus and multiple species. My Darters and Sunfish do Ok together. Darters are peaceful. But Sunfish sometimes are a _tad_ mean.
Maybe if I put lots of places for the fish to hide and to block the view of the darters it could diffuse some of the aggression.

@Fish FolkMaybe I'll try breeding snails in a 3-5g and when they're big enough put them in the nanf tank. Do you think I'll have room for a pair of darters?

@Fish FolkThanks for all the help! Would I be able to have a clean up crew type of fish with two banded sunfish and the rainbow shiners?
-
Those look great! Do you have any care information on them? What would be suitable tankmates for them in a 20g.

@Fish FolkThe most I would be about to do is a 29g, preferably a 20g. Are there any sunfish other than the pygmys to keep in a 29 or 20g tank?

I’ve had this happen with sand, when I put it in air bubbles got trapped under the sand and every now and then air bubbles rise out of the sand from when I put it in. That’s my theory.

OK guys here are some of the fish that I’m looking at getting and let me know what you all think ~
Pea puffers
clown loaches
Rummynose
I think that’s it for a long while ~ I only have a 20 gallon
I just wanna know how many and if they’re compatible. Do I get them separately are all at once?
The clown loaches will get way to big, maybe try hovering zebra loaches, yoyo loaches, or Kuhli loaches.

I would like to hear others' stories of having an established tank, deciding you hate the substrate, and what you did or did not do about it.
I once had a fairly thin layer of tan sand mixed with fluval stratum, it had a horrible look with the light colored sand and the almost black stratum. Eventually I removed it, put new stratum in, with sand over top.

Ive never kept native fish before and Im looking to get into it. I want to have a nice looking tank with interesting fish that fit in a 10 gallon. Any ideas? I would also like fish that I could purchase, as I dont really want to collect my own.
Thanks,
