I did have to run out to get epsom salt. Should I set up another quarantine tank just for him? Can you tell what's wrong just by looking at him? He's a fav of mine...I just wanna fix him. Thanks for the help...I hope it works

I don't take it as criticism. I'm fairly new to the hobby that's been lucky to only deal with ich. I am completely stressed out this morning. My GT is in use with a newly inquired fish that are going through salt treatment. I did a partial water change yesterday. My water parameters were fine yesterday but this morning isn't ideal. The bloat is symmetrical on both sides. He's still moving around the tank but very slowly. He isn't hanging at the heater. The other fish in the tank are fine so far. No new foods introduced. pH 6.4 Nitrates 25 Hardness 250 Nitrites 1 Ammonia 0 Buffer 40 Water temp 79

Something is happening to "big blue"...he looks bloated this morning and lethargic. I have antibiotics ordered but it will take days to get here. Should I treat the display tank with aquarium salt? HELP...why is this happening?

I am very excited with my choices. It took me awhile to decide which ones I wanted for each tank. I'm sure I will have to play around with them to find a good spot for all of them. This is a great hobby ...that gets pricy but what hobby isn't pricy to do. Plus the fish are therapeutic!! I will definitely post post pics of my journey. I'm so glad I found this forum. I bought Java Fern, several kinds of Anubias, tiger lotus, crypts, red sword, and scarlet temple. I'm planting 2 tanks...to start with. I picked what appear to be easy plants to grow. Fingers crossed 🤞 🥴 Do you have a favorite plant?

Exactly...I do care. And I'm so afraid to make a mistake. I get it will happen but I'm trying to do my best to head off any major problems.

That sounds like a more reasonable option. I've gone back n forth with doing a bleach dip. You start reading and watching videos on how to do handle tanks....it gets overwhelming. It was easier when I first set up the 1st tank...now I'm so afraid to do something wrong and lose my fish. I'm just trying to create a more natural environment for them. Thanks for the advice!! 🐡🐟🦐

The one tank will have shrimp and micro crabs. I'm concerned about getting what could be transferred to my tanks. When you sterilized plants was it hard on them?

I've read so much online about sterilizing plants and then quarantining them. Is this necessary? I'm just trying to add live plants to a couple of my existing tanks that already have fish. Help! 😁
