I have always been curious about keeping a brackish water tank. I have seen The aquarium co-op blog post on keeping them but want to know from anyone who is experienced. Are they hard to keep and maintain? What are some brackish fish I could put in a 29 gal?

Hi, I’m think of a new fish to stick my 5 gal and wanted to do another betta but came across many wild type bettas and want to give them a shot. I have heard of strawberry bettas along with others. Does anyone have experience keeping some wild types.

Today I was in my local LFS and came across these panther crabs. Look pretty cool and have done a little bit of research already but want to know what you guys think. I am currently setting up a planted 5 gal right now and wondering if they can be in a 5 gallon tank? Does any one have experience with these guys?

Hi, I want to try to start out a walstad type aquarium and want to try some plants that can grow above the tanks surface. Looking for house plant types. Plants I know so far are pothos, spider plant, and lucky bamboo. Any type of jungle or palm plants I can try?

This morning I came in to my room and noticed a dead shrimp one the ground. It look a little damaged but I think it was the other shrimp in the tank nibbling on it. tank has been set up for 3 mouths and have had them for 4 weeks. Other shrimp seem the be fine. My water parameters seem to be fine. PH - 7.0 Nitrates - 0 nitrite - 0

Yeah those are new plants developing. Since the Java fern is a rhizome plant it sends off runners. Eventually when they get bigger they will come off and you can attach them to hard scape.

Trying to start and breed cherry shrimp. Does this look like a saddle in this female? Could she end up with some eggs?

I have A spare 29 gallon aquarium in my closet and I’m thinking some projects stocking for it. I have come across Amazon puffers. And I’ve done a little bit of research on them but would they be suitable for a 29 gallon aquarium? Anyone with experience shed a little bit of advice.

I will get some better photos tomorrow when the lights come back on.

Ok, I should probably get more shrimp later on. None of mine seem to be berried.

Today I have just purchased some cherry shrimp from my LFS and have gotten 3 just start and see how they do in my 3 gal. Can I start a colony with only 3 shrimp? Any tips for getting started fast? Here are some photos that aren’t the best but can you sex them?

Ok can I dose my 3 gall with easy green

Oh ok I will add them, some people were getting good carpets in like 4 weeks so I was a little concerned.

I don’t have anything to test it but I have it 1 bubble per 2 seconds. I have only used root tabs. I have had up for 2 months, my long term plan was to have a lush carpet tank for breeding shrimp. I’m using a twin star B line led light on for 6 hours 1:00 to 8:00 and there is 1 betta and nothing else but plan to have cherry shrimp soon.

I have not been successful at all trying to grow my carpet of dwarf hair grass in my Nano 3 gallon cube. First I had a diatom algae problem and now I’m struggling with blue green algae and it’s been two months and I still can’t get this dwarf hairgrass to spread even with CO2. I am struggling trying to make a beautiful aquascape.

Hi it’s been awhile but I’m still have the same trouble with this betta. I have done everything you guys have recommended and am having no success. She still very lethargic, trouble swimming, slight ter in fins, she has lost a Lot of color and has just now stopped eating. I don’t know what to do. Parameters are 7.0 PH, 0 Nitrates, 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite. I feed Hikari vibra bites. The guys at the fish store said that they don’t what to do but to give her time, it’s been about 4 weeks and nothing has gotten better. But she is holding on for life and it’s hard to watch her like this. Is there any type of medication I can give her?
