Bummer.
I have seen people remove the father after spawning, but they end up getting little or no fry…maybe it’s something to do with water parameters?
I’ve done bettas one other time, and that time I did remove the father, I think I will get a lot more fry if I can keep the father in with them. I think the eggs must not have been fertilized, they always stayed pretty white, none of them seemed opaque

Well sad news, it looks like he ate the eggs 🙁 I’m not sure why he would do that, my guess is they might not have been fertilized? Idk

Ok they have finished! I can’t really tell how many eggs there are, but he is being a good dad and placing back in the nest 😄

Okay so Friday night I put both the bettas back in their breeding setup, with each other separated. Saturday afternoon I released the mom. And today Sunday about 24 hours since I released her they are spawning again! She Is definitely dropping eggs this time!
His bubble nest is about 6 times bigger than the one he made last attempt.
it looks like I’m gonna have some fry 😁

Oh no! Cliffhanger. I'm late to this thread but what happened?
I didn’t end up getting any eggs, so I decided to take her out and try again this week. Hopefully I goes smoothly this time 👍

It’s been a few hours now and she still hasn’t dropped any eggs🙁 .and now she is hiding in a corner. Should I separate her for again for a while? I don’t know what to do

Good luck! Koi bettas are my favourite 😃 Also, check out simply betta as she has a lot of great videos on breeding bettas.
Thank you! I’ve only ever tried this one other time, and I only ended up with about 15 fry. Hopefully this will turn out a whole lot better

Ok this is it! I’m going to make a breeding attempt. I’m introducing the pair tonight, tomorrow morning I will see if there is a bubble nest and release the female😁

I recently set up my first paudarium. I used and expanding foam to attach everything together. It is fish safe it’s called “Great Stuff Pond and Stone”
I didn’t use it for a background but I’ve been told you can. I would check out Serpa Design on YouTube for paludarium ideas.
I haven’t really planted the under water portion yet, I just threw some stuff in there- 1

They are most likely feeding from the debris on the sponge, they should be able to get out the same way they got in, plus they get a snack

Ended up purchasing the 30inch light after reading all the reviews and watching a couple of YouTube videos. When using this light will there be any issue having this lid Aqueon Versa Top 30" X 12" Hinged Glass Aquarium Top | Petco on my aquarium and the light above? I did read that there are no risers with the light so no sure if it will sit just above the lid, if that makes sense.
The plastic hinge on the lid will block out some of the light, I usually just remove the plastic piece.
