Thanks to all the advice and support you all have given me, my first tank (set up June 5th) is doing well, and I'm sincerely happy with it.

In my ten-gallon, planted tank I've got three amano shrimp, two otocilclus catfish, a purple mystery snail, and my pride and joy Betta, Seamus von Toot. 60674346_PXL_20210725_1903434932.jpg.e27a0388a94e9c92ec429f131504ce2e.jpg

Kuhli loaches get fish “zoomies” and sporadically go zipping around, just because they can and they’re happy little fish as long as there isn’t anybody picking on them.

It’s what I’m seeing, fist i though they are sick, but they are eating and seems to be okay so they don’t look sick, but it was new to me to see that behavior

  3. Hi everyone, I have a Kuhli loach and it’s been really active lately there is 2 of them but I everything I read it says they stay hidden and are nocturnal but mine are super active and I’m sorry something is wrong

All test looks good on water and it’s hard water

i try to post a video put i can’t and they are swing across the tank up and down all over I do have a air stone and the other fish seem normal

  4. I watched a old video of Cory where he talked about foam being a sign of amonia and I was wondering if this count as that, my paper test doesn’t show amonia at the moment but i don’t know if this foamy means I’ll get it soon

i should add i just did a water change too and I add prime

The plant doesn't know that you glued it, so it is trying to anchor itself.  The roots will feed above and below the substrate. In time time you may have enough roots above the substrate to provide cover for the smaller fish.  Mine have actually picked up pieces of gravel as they grew.

Hi oh I see, yeah there is a lot roots inside the little cave and the kuhli loaches love to stay there

@Jcdli  You don’t have to use root tabs.  They’re just a good nutrient source.  Anubias pull nutrients from the water column very successfully, so I’m sure they’ll be fine without root tabs if your fish would disturb them.

Thank you, at this point I’m not even adding easy green because plants are doing good

  7. I have some other plants that are burry and the roots look great like white and strong but I never had plans before, but my Anubias is giving a lot rots and growing,

yes they are beautiful fish I use to have 2 but they bullie each other and one pass away but they are great it’s so fun to see them going through the sand and they are colorful

  8. Hi yes I have root taps I don’t use them cuz I have sand and I have few fishes that move the sand a lot but question if my roots of plants are white and they look very alive does it mean there is nutrientes on the sand

Use prime or ammonia binding conditioner your BB will take care of it before it affects fish

Yeah I’m using prime at the moment a member of the forum recomend it, when I had a spike and that works wonders but stinks jajajajjaa

  10. Yeah my tank has been running on for 6 months, but it’s the first time I check my water from the sink so I was wondering how it affects when I do my water changes and the fish I can house  ñ, that’s the tank at the Moment

  11. Hi everyone, I glue this Anubis’s to my shrimp cave, the roots are growing and it seems they are going into the sand, my question is do I allow it to burry in the sand or do I move it higher so that doesn’t happen? Thank you

Certain fish require harder or softer water for breeding purposes. But as far as what fish you can keep you can always adjust your water. it just depends how much work do you want to do. African cichlids do well in hard water at least from my experience I keep everything from mbuna cichlids  Africans  to South American cichlids like oscars and jaguars and such most fish can go through a process called Gil osmosis. And that’s them adjusting to the water you got to slowly add the harder water to their current water that they’re used to being in for  example my ph is anywhere from 7.8-8.6

Oh I see thank you and yeah I have a yellow lab Cichild which is my favorite and another cichild as well and clown loaches, hillstring loaches, some guppies, some colie loach and some pomp pomp shirmp and some corys fish,

You also have some nitrate there so I'd check for ammonia too just to be safe.

I've heard live bearers do really well: guppies, mollies, and platties.  Since it reads at the end of the chart I'd take your water to the fish store or buy the API kit and get an idea for how hard.  You could be anywhere from hard, but okay for a lot of fish, to liquid-rock-better-make-a-brackish-tank.

Tomorrow I’ll check for amonia i forgot to do that and you mean I can make brackish tank with this kind of water ?

  14. Hi everyone this test is from my sink and I see I have no chlorine and my water seems hard, any ideas on what fish are appropriate with hard water or what’s the deference between hard water and soft water thank you
