  1. I have a very modest 10 gallon with a betta and snails. Unfortunately my last two bettas have passed from what I suspect is septicemia. They both died quickly once it hit and it was very sad and just tore them apart. My water peramiters were always good and both bettas were thriving right before it hit. I would quarantine them, medicate and then they’d just pass away 💔 Currently it’s just my little snails but I’d love to get another betta when I’m ready. How can I get everything as sterile as possible, specifically the sponge filter, so this doesn’t happen again. I’ve heard bleaching the sponge filter works fine if you leave it out to dry after rinsing it for a few days. I’m comfortable having to re-cycle my tank if I have to. I did buy some new small sponge filters just in case. thank you so much!
