Babies fat with liquid gold bbs. The water is cloudy with paramecium and scud babies. I'm trying to work out a system where live food is present at all times to mimic nature but I've had some problems with water parameters. Massive micro bioload will crash your whole system as fast as over stocking a fish tank. I'm trying to find the balance. Duckweed has been a huge help in my experiments. Scuds are excellent as a clean up crew if some fry die. Coop test strips have been a blessing in these experiments, quick fast results whenever I make any changes.
Sometimes just taking out some duckweed will cause things to spike. It's pretty crazy how small changes can have such an effect on the tank

Uhh I just had a disaster moment when my brine shrimp tubing decided to unconnect themselves and drained out. What I'm doing today is cleaning this mess up.
Hikari first bites please save my babies!

Got a mutation in my copper spawn that is white base on top of copper scales making a very light copper alien. This is going to make my goal of creating the first Gold Alien easier(hopefully). I'm protecting this guy with my life lol

They've been around for awhile. The thing that bugs me about these fish is that they didn't select the best Bettas to start this line. They all seem like regular veil tails that anyone can get for a few bucks at any petshop. If you're gonna gmo an animal might as well start it from a high pedigree.

I've been waiting for this post. I'm surprised no one posted sooner.
I'm in the same boat(east side 108). I have a computer fan blowing over the top of mine. That's good for 3-4 f in my tank. I'm also topping off with refrigerated RO water. If you don't have an air stone and can add one then you should def do that. My understanding is they'll suffocate before overheating.
I'm at the point of floating frozen water bottles now too.
I also have some wcmm in a 5g upstairs at almost 90f with my cull shrimp. They're low priority for me but seem to be the same as always.
The asian restaurant around here uses frozen water bottles during the summer to keep their tanks cool. Their tanks are food fish though

Cleaned up the duckweed in my 10 gallon. They mostly stay in the airline tube rings but sometimes the shrimp or fish will knock some out. I just put them back in using a little hair pick 🙂 May seem tedious to some but I feel like it’s worth doing to prevent an overgrown mess of duckweed. I love how the roots look from underneath tho, especially when they’re in a thick bunch in the rings—that’s mostly why I got duckweed despite hearing horror stories😂
I'm one of those that like duckweed too but I also garden so the excess gets turned into fertilizer for my above water plants.
My eggs hatched, it wasn't something I did today because they were gonna hatch without me but still feels like an accomplishment and there's a lot more than I expected. Minus actual kids I think I've contributed to at least 500 fishy lives into this world. It's weird when I think about it, me helping to create life

Another spawn
I've got my goal of 4 spawns for this year. I'm gonna keep it going and see how much I can handle. I've been lucky with small spawns, if each were 100+ I would not be close to 4. This one looks to be a small spawn too, I've only had one that was +100 babies so far.

That would be a very awesome scud containment unit for adults while the babies get through the screen for constant live feed for baby fry. Could do the same for daphnia too. Thanks for the idea, I was toying with using a mesh breeder box but those take up too much space in my fry tanks

Finally got an extension cable long enough to power my mad laboratory that used to be all battery powered. My 5 year old nephew asked if I was a scientist because he saw my brine shrimp hatcheries bubbling away. I guess they look like some mad scientist stuff he saw in cartoons. 😁
It's still a mess but I have the Coop Livestream tomorrow to clean it all up

Put the 5g in, your hatchery can sit on top of one of the other tanks. If it leaks no big deal

I got lots of rest today, still spent an hour feeding and looking at my fish and fry but didn't do any nermy stuff. Too tired

You can always compost it. Scuds love eating it too

If you have an established planted tank the water from that should have some infusoria in it. Green water could work too

Made some fry food from different foods I have like Cory suggests we do. Freeze dried daphnia, Xtreme betta pellets, freeze dried bloodworms, bug bites, some flakes and other betta pellets. Used the coffee grinder thing to crush the Xtreme pellets.
Also upgraded my betta breeding tubs to actual tanks so I can get better pics and videos

Take this for what it's worth but if I were in your position and dont want to use salt I would just leave the fish alone to heal up. Personally I've never had any problems with salt and plants but I don't run big tanks, I'm not sure what size you have him in right now and what plants and how dense your planting. There's a lot of variables

Can you get better pics? And do you have pics of the fish from the seller?
Normally when I breed bettas and they get their fins ripped and chewed I just use salt and within 5-7 days they'll grow back.

Nice! When I had a tub pond I would use two sponges and alternate their cleaning because yea they get clogged up quick
