When you say understocked goldfish tank, can you clarify? How many goldfish, what size are they, and what size tank?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing once I looked more too. Was hoping it was instead a miracle baby lol. Weird though because I bought aquarium co-op plants a month ago but nothing for the three months prior. Dang.

Sorry to start another thread seconds after my last. Apparently my two Nerite snails were indeed "flirting!" I have a baby! It's freshwater.
I had fed bbs to the tank, leaving the saltwater with it. I don't know if there are more babies, but is it possible it's just brackish enough with that salt addition?
Now my question: should I move it to another tank so that 1) the guppies don't eat it and 2) it has truly brackish water? What are my odds of it surviving?
Sorry I know the picture is tough to see.. it's tiny!

Ummm so kind of unrelated, but uhhh I have a freshwater tank. And I just noticed a baby Nerite.... I'm.. confused..

That's my concern, obviously. It was fighting/flirting/something with the other Nerite yesterday, but this doesn't look like eggs. It's still clinging to the driftwood. It's just weird to leave a trail..

is what i use, with two probes. Will ensure the two probes are within a certain temp.

My dream aquarium product is a heater or heater controller where I can simulate day and night. Just like lights that can create a sun rise and sun set why not have a heater or heater controller that will do that? So that mid day the tank will be at it's warmest and at night it's at it's coldest but still stays within a preset range.
You can do that with the Inkbird temperature controllers:
I just have it set to a constant temperature and sync'ed with alexa. You can set scenes though and control different temperatures at different times (or days). There's different models with different capabilities, you can have cooling, dual thermostat meters, etc.
I'm curious though - maybe a question for @Daniel too - is there a benefit to actually changing the temperature? Do the fish prefer a day/night temp swing? We might need someone else's device that can read what a fish is thinking 🙂 . I kind of assumed a standard temperature would be most beneficial.

Was just reading back through some random old posts and was curious if you ever resolved this, @Grapevine89?

Dang thanks. Thought I heard something in the podcast but couldn't remember. Have like $200 worth of stuff I was going to buy too, might have to get rid of some.

Is this not active or not for this year? Thanks!

Is there an overhang or anything over the bucket? Water dropping on it will freeze up, though that is generally wider. Kind of like an upside down icicle.
Could also be trapped gasses forcing water up, I think.
