Let it be. If you aren't even sure what you have then the fry are probably just hybrid mutts. If some survive and they look cool than keep them for yourself and enjoy them.

I had this situation about 15 years ago. I draped big plastic garbage bags over my tanks and made them as air tight as I could by taping them. I left the filters on and I didn't lose any fish.

With out knowing the details I'd say feed them more and do larger water changes more often. The quality of food can also make quite a difference. What are you feeding them?

I followed the Coop's instructions. I put the inserts back in after the first week once I did my water change. My tank was really cloudy for the whole week. My fish seem fine now but I'm still going to do the second dose just to be sure.

I totally understand all of it now. I watched a few videos and it's much easier than I thought it was. Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm about to reach that point where a blower would be much better than a billion air pumps hooked up to all of my tanks but I don't really know how this works. What is an air loop system and how do barb fittings work? It's suggested that 'You'll need to purchase a barb fitting 3/4 barb to the size of pvc you'll be connecting to" but I'm not sure what that even means. My fish room is in my living room so I'm not going to hook up any watering system but the air system would be great.

Ask your LFS what they want the most that is within your breeding knowledge and capability. When I lived in the PNW I made my first $100 in two months from platies in a single 29 gallon. Now I live in the southwest and I'm lucky if I can get a few bucks credit for platies that looke even better than the ones I used to breed in Oregon. The market varies from state to state.... like a lot.
