  1. When java leaves die and you get all those little new baby javas.... well, that's how they spread. This is a good thing. It means your java fern is healthy and wants to spread. Let the little leaflets grow a bit and then connect them to some wood or rock so you can start a whole new plant. The old big leaf will go brown and then just throw it away.

This is healthy normal development. You're doing nothing wrong.

  2. Are you familiar with mops? Make a moth out of cloth. Throw it in the breeding tank for a few day and then take the mop out or take the adult fish out and put them in another aquarium. Bam! you should have babies hatching from the mop within a few days.

I would order these. If you don't want the Pad then at least get the Filter Sponge so your fry don't get sucked up... and you can cut them to fit.

  4. It wasn't you Daniel but I agree with it. Just look at all the videos of Cory taking wild fish from muddy brown lakes and streams and rivers. I think we treat a lot of our fish to sensitive... (that's not saying that some need very specific water).... I have pretty high ph and hard water... I bet I can hatch and raise some of the more delicate tetras.... Maybe I'll try that this year. Myabe I'll fail. I feel like the stronger our tank-bred fish become than the better.

  5. I took notes from a really old fish guy. He told told me if you boil leaves than they become useless. The dirt and grime on the leaves immediately becomes good bacteria..... boiled it kills all benefits. Most rivers and ponds and lakes are covered in debris. That being said I know their are plenty of aquarium enthusiasts that need there tanks at perfect levels.... I think a little mud is good.

  6. Feed them to a predator that will just slurp them up. Or create a cull tank which includes animals that aren't the right color or shape... that being said if they can't swim right or have bent backs or other deformities they should be culled....

Lots of strains of fish we love today were created from healthy culls that just weren't the right color of tail shape.

  7. I really like sparking gouramis. They max out at about 1 inch... maybe 1.2 inches. Completely peaceful. Mine have always liked the upper half of the tank. Even if you're breeding guppies in the same tank with them the gouramis mouths are so small that they can't harm them. They're awesome fish.

  8. So I was delusional about how long of a python I'd need when I got one a few years ago. I got a 100ft long and really I only need about 25-30 feet of tube.  100 feet of tube is nearly impossible to create suction when my tanks aren't that far away.... it takes forever! If I take apart the pump that connects to the sink can I just cut and heat up the tube to fit it back over the pump or will I just have to go back and buy a new 25ft one?
