  1. Thank you for your kind feedback. I've been using KNO3, KH2PO4, K2SO4, MGSO4, CASO4 and Burrs Micros. I've received a bit of help from Joe Harvey actually, and will modify the amounts and frequency.
  2. 34 minutes ago Add bookmark #139 Its been a bit over month using calcium sulphate instead of the damn "clay breaker".. quite embarrassing that was to be honest. Still a few filamentous diatoms hanging about, which I'm really sick of actually, but it's not as bad as it was. My ludwigia super red continuously loses its bottom leaves and struggle to grow. I never had an issue with this plant using ADA soil. I'm not sure if I should have attempted the inert substrate, being somewhat newer to the hobby, or perhaps I'm just impatient. It's been about 6 months since I swapped to inert substrate. I've seen 'some' improvement in plant growth, but still having issues, like the diatoms and several species just not doing too well. Do I just need to wait for the substrate to mature further?
  3. I get this green shit in exactly the same spot, between the sub and the glass! I've been stressing over it lately, but maybe it's nothing much to worry about?
  4. Thanks man. I'm curious, because I recently went to an inert substrate, and experiencing some diatoms. I know it's not an exciting topic to discuss, but what are the key factors when changing sub? If I remember correctly, you left some sand in the tank for biological purposes? I guess that would help avoid some diatoms, along with using RO, which may also help? Cheers Joel Armstrong 👍
  5. Yes! I've read about this tank. Absolutely beautiful, possibly my favourite tank at the moment. Cheers
  6. Hey man, Newbie question if I may... When you switched over to BDBS a few months ago, did your tank go through a diatom phase as the sub matured?
