  1. thanks everyone you’ve been insightful, I do have a back up tank currently cycling cause I was already leaning towards removing the betta or the shrimp. Probably the betta since the shrimp have eggs and and some of which have already hatched.
  2. Thanks for both your responses, he’s the most docile male I’ve had.
  3. Yeah, I’m sure the person wasn’t taking precautions and using any protection like gloves nor washing. I myself always wash my hands after testing and wear gloves during water changes which btw thanks for the tips, there’s shrimp in there and it was cycled for a week and ammonia was 0 for a few days but I got a spike from some rotting plant bulbs which have been removed. Sucks! I plan on 50% water changes twice a week until it’s back to 0, would you recommend more often? I also have some prime and stability
  4. Hey everyone! New here but have kept several betta tanks in the past, but this time I’m keeping cherry shrimp with my very docile betta. I have never seen him show anything but inquisitiveness towards the shrimps, although he does seem to enjoy eating their food except for when one of the bigger females are eating it he just stares at it. my question here is, how do shrimp tolerate other fish such as more aggressive male bettas. I’ve had big box aquarium workers tell me it’s not a good idea at all(after I added the two species) cause the betta will bully them and stress them out. What are your opinions on the matter?
  5. I’m not necessarily worried about my 10 gal tank, all parameters except GH(180ppm) and ammonia(.25-.50ppm) are at normal levels. I was only curious after reading about a woman becoming infected with the disease some years back.
  6. Hey there everyone, has anyone had any experience or knowledge of whether or not an unkempt tank can make Whitmore’s disease more likely?
