  1. I didn't update in quite a while. They went through a full course of baktopur direct and also for around 10 days on salt. Today I did a 100% water change on the four of them. washed everything too. Progress up until now: All 4 angelfishes are doing great. I even saw one hunting down a cherry shrimp. The black contour around the edges disappeared on all of them. The one most affected doesn't seem to have new fin growth but definitely they look healthier by the day. I really hope he recovers his fins completely. The lip and "nose" seem to have healed off on him too. No more stringy poop. No new symptoms. However, I will go with one more course of baktopur direct+ stress guard and this time I will stick to the supplier's instructions, meaning water changes every 3 days instead of daily or every other day unless they show distress I think what did it was the clean water and the baktopur direct, not so much the salt. But if anyone reads this in the future. I think you should start with salt first and very quickly. The black edges on fins are infection basically and are a telltale that your fish is not improving. Also, expectually if you are in EU, stock up on fish antibiotics and medicine, its getting harder and harder to find in EU anything more than palliative care for your fish. This will probably be my last update in this thread unless something goes wrong again. I tried to document it closely for people that might encounter the same issue to have something more than just instructions on what to do in this situation. Thanks @Colu!
  2. I decided to start a treatment with baktopur direct. 1 pill for the whole of 50l of water according to leaflet last night. -New water change again tonight for around 75% of the water this time. removed rocks and driftwood to vacuum the sand properly. -Added Stress guard/ 3/4 of a pil of baktopur direct and salt at a slightly lower concentration than before( 6 spoons instead of 8, so not that much different). New video: Overall things are improving, I think. -I definitely see an improvement in the fins of the most affected angelfish. -The dark edges at the end of the fins of all of them seem to be receding, only noticeable in the most affected one at this point. It is now replaced by a whitish coat, doesn't look like fungus..seems like its healing. -A red spot appeared on the "nose" of the most affected one, but I think that was from the fall from yesterday(he jumped out because I kept the water line too high). Its on the side where he fell. Also I'm not sure whats that on his lip. Its spreading on the side he fell, could be from the fall but i'm not sure. I guess I'll have to wait some more time to see what happends. - The stringy poop seems to have dissapeared mostly. But they dont really eat much. However, even the poop that I vacuum seems to be more of normal kind of poop instead of stringy. -They do eat but are not very enthusiastic, still. I added a few red cherry shrimps, the fishes seem interested in them but rather curios than thinking that shrimps could be food. -I will add two more catappa leaves as the ones that are right now in don't seem to darken the water anymore. I'm thinking to lower the amount of salt in the coming days as they approach almost a week on salt, I need a few opinions here.
  3. Ok. But the thing with Kanaplex is that I never had success with it. I find that kanaplex worked only one time when I used it in medicated food. I dosed abit of Kanaplex today in food( frozen bloodworms mixed with granules), but the angelfishes dont seem very interested in the quarantine tank. I also have Polyguard and Sera baktopur direct. I think a course with Baktopur direct would be better. I also have baktopur direct tabs( its food with nifuriprimol inside) Also, if I go with Kanaplex, I no longer can do water changes everyday, right? atleast thats what I understand from the leaflet. Now for whats new in the quarantine aquarium today: New water change of around 65-70% today. Only added stress guard this time+ salt. I also lowered the water line because one of them jumped from the aquarium. The one with most damage. I put it back right away. I noticed, but not all the time that one of them is really, really mean to the other 3. One of the other 3 stands its ground but the other two not so much and he actually goes for the fins. However, he also has abit of fin damage himself so not sure. i added a piece of wood from another aquarium in the middle to create more hiding spaces for the other 3. New video: -On the one affected the most, the black edges on the pectoral fins are only present on one side of his fin and it seems to be receding which I think its a good sign. - Still red areas around where the pectoral fins are coming out. Overall, more or less the same. The others, I notice one of them that maybe has abit more damage on his fin but cannot really tell for now. I also have the following medications: Metroplex/ esha Gdex/ seachem focus and seachem polyguard.( I like to have antibiotics because I'm from EU and those are hard to find here so I stock in advance).
  4. Today I've doubled the water change routine with added salt for the difference. 2 water changes, around 8 hours apart for 22l of water each. Paraguard and stress guard added at full dose on first water change and only around 30% on the second water change. I also added another smaller heater to stabilize the temperature. New video: -The stringy poop is still present in but its less. -The one who is most affected I think its stabilizing but he still lost a part of those little sticks that make the fin on the right that was already affected from the days prior. However, He seems to have less black around the edges. - I notice that, the place on his body where the pectoral fins are coming from is a bit red. Or at least redder compared to other angelfishes. -The others are kind of the same when it comes to the fin damage. -No change in behavior. Water temp altering between 23-25(after water change 23 and raising to around 25). So far I haven't started with antibiotics but that reddening makes me think I should consider Antibiotics.
  5. Did a water change today, tried to match the temperatures. Also added around 1 table spoon of aquarium salt for 2 gallons of water in the aquarium. About 110 grams for 50 liters. Here is a new video: The first one that I'm zooming in is the most affected by pectoral fin damage and it seems to be worse than yesterday. He also has something on his lips. The others seem to be better for now. They do show stringy poop. I've just noticed that there are areas in the tank with lower temp(maybe around 20*C) so I've made the flow abit more liniar and raised the heater abit to be in the direct flow of the filter. z They did like to hang out there in the colder area up until now so that explains the stringy poop? I dont think so because they had stringy poop in the main tank too and its never cold there. I try to keep them at 24-25. The room is abit cold tho.
  6. Kanaplex and Polyguard I used with the one that died. The tank has been rinsed before adding the other 4. For now, I'm going with a different approach with these 4. So far I have been using Paraguard and Stress coat + catappa leaves. the water temp is usually 24-25, but thew new water I add is usually around 18*c degrees. You think I should still add the salt?
  7. In my opinion, you shouldn't worry yet. I honestly dont see anything wrong in the pictures. If other fishes( especially other angelfishes if you have more) don't show similar symptoms, then it could have just been an injury. Monitor it for now.
  8. I have this issue with my angelfishes that seems to be fin rot but not exactly typical fin rot. Had 5 angelfishes and one of them did succubed to this early.I first noticed this issue on one angelfish around 2 weeks ago.Back then I just took a 50% water change. 2 water changes later in 3 days, one of his pectoral fins was 50% of its size. I put him in quarantine with Seachem Polyguard and Kanaplex but no improvement. I then started to add aquarium salt, 1 tea spoon per gallon at first and then progressed to 2.5 tea spoons per gallon. The Finrot at this point took out all his connected tissue from the pectoral fins, leaving just little sticks. He died after about 10 days in total. I then rinsed and cleaned the quarantine tank and added the other 4 angelfishes in there as they started to show simptoms too. How the situation looks right now: 1 of them presents split pectoral fin(on one side) and a part of the tips of the fins is already eaten(black around the ages) and there is a white edge on the lower part of the dorsal fin, also he tries to keep his pectoral fins close to his body, there is also a white edge on most of the pectoral fins( which I understand its somewhat a good sign) 2 two of them present white edges on the pectoral fins 1 of them doesn't seem to be affected for now. Their poop seem to also be stringy. Water Parametes in the quarantine tank: Tank -54 liters, with 40-50 % of water change everyday. Substrate - very thin sand layer with some dragon stones, interal filter, one echinodorus plant and some floating plants. Medicine: Seachem Paraguard, Seachem Stress guard, 3 Catappa leaves. NH4 - 0 No2 - 0.05 No3 - 0 GH -4(I use ro water with tap water mixed) Kh -4 PH - 6.8 TDS - 120 The tank they come from also have 12-15cardinals, 3 bolivian ramirezi, 8 coridoras sterbai(added 1 month ago), 1 ancistrus). They usually ate either frozen bloodworms or Hikari vibra. Other fishes are not affected in the main tank, only these Angelfishes. Could it be a protozoa/parasite? It doesn't seem that antibiotics help at all. Anyone encountered anything like this? I'll try to document this with videos and pictures everyday. Here is a video:
