  1. I stick a celery stalk on a fork and put it in the bottom of the tank. In a few hours it’s full of snails. Doesn’t eradicate em, but helps. They will finish the celery in 4 days. Plecos like it, too.

  3. Mine just did the same things. A couple different colors- red, red/white, and gold. Did the the dirted tank with sand cap. Dry start with a thick carpet. Can’t believe it worked. DIY CO2 w/ chopstick. Nice when patience pays off. Congrats. I’ve got a ton of white, circular bugs booting around, too. Must have been in the soil.
  4. Scuds I think. They are reproducing like crazy. When I add fish, they will go nuts. Might turkey baster them out and feed some other tanks. Holy cow. Haven’t seen a red shrimp in the tank for a couple days. Just saw a baby red shrimp on the back glass. Hopefully, a few more. Some of the other females look full, too.

  6. Picked some Congo Tetras a few months ago. They are my favorite fish now. Active, good looking, and even eat cichlid pellets that aren’t intended for them.
  7. Did my first dirtied tank and dry start method. Seems to be going pretty well. I even put one red stem plant in there. Ludwigia something or other. Only one stem. It’s red and is getting bushy and big. Anyway, I now have about 15 little white bugs swimming around. I’d guess they were in the potting soil. I have 10 shrimp in the tank ,too. I think half are dead. The next day they all show up. Wish they didn’t hide so much. What do you think the bugs are? Seem harmless. Thanks, Sam
  8. Pretty cool. Always loved swordtails. Hard to find healthy ones with long swords. Have always liked the original green ones. Have fun. I have a couple cichlid tanks and one guppy tank. Think I like the action and civility of the guppy tank.
