So, all you people who love fireflies but they're not around your area - we have 'em here! Just have to put up with BILLIONS of these guys every few years, that's all!!
Her job done, she flies aimlessly till she drops dead, yet her red eyes remain, to haunt you until darkness falls, when the lovely fireflies emerge..

This morning I moved the remaining guppy fry from the quarantine tank to the 20L, since mama has had a few new fry in the 20L already, then broke down and cleaned the quarantine tank and equipment. It's also supposed to be water change day in the 45 but I'm too exhausted so will do that tomorrow. I know the 45 can go a few extra days without a water change. I absolutely cannot get any more fish right now as 1) too many fry! and 2) I have to start thinking about the very real possibility I will have to downsize to one small tank next year, or at least start over.

He's a looker for sure!! Keep us informed on any color changes! My koi plakat betta went from white, red and blue to almost entirely blue in 6 weeks! And now, the middle part of his tail fin is turning from darker blue to a lighter, almost turquoise color. Not sure why the last picture posts upside down, but here's his transition since February.

My swords really took off with root tabs. Once piece of advice - poke a little hole in each end of the root tab with a safety pin before inserting, so the tab is less likely to pop out of the substrate. If it does pop out and you don't notice, it'll expand to about 3 times the size and turn white and freak you out when you find it.

Crypt might grow back if you leave the roots (A-C root tabs might help), and good luck with your snail! My betta needed a cleanup crew in his tank, and I was concerned about aggression with tankmates, so I threw in two ramshorns from another tank. He didn't notice them until they were near the top, and he has had several flairing sessions when that happens and knocked one off a decoration once. Once there were baby snails, I put the two adults plus a few babies back in the other tank, so as not to upset him with an inundation of snails. I've tried to explain that he should be nice to his housekeeping staff! Any other tankmates are unfortunately out of the question after seeing him with these snails. I'd love some shrimp in there though...

Hello fellow nerms! It's been a pretty bad few weeks and I haven't been able to come on here. A family member recently passed away, far too young. I had to move around a bunch of stuff in my house because another family member moved in, and my AC broke down. I'm going to end up having to sell the house and move next year, and just the thought of that process and having to catch (the most stressful part) and rehome my fish and probably give away tanks and equipment and plants has made me seriously ill. The money I've spent... Also I got into some poison ivy on both forearms, had a horrible allergic reaction, and couldn't do any aquarium maintenance for 3 weeks! The plants and tanks need a little catch-up work, but at least the fish have been thriving..
My danio fry are all at least half-grown now and I ended up with about 15 or so. I now have some guppies in there with them and haven't seen any new fry since. I don't want any more danio fry.
Two shrimp recently had babies and I might have enough by the end of summer to actually make a buck or two! I never see yellow shrimp for sale around here but have seen many other colors.
My guppies are doing well. I have 8 fry going to the LFS next week and two sets of younger fry. I absolutely love these friendly wiggle-butts.
I had to rehome the angelfish (Clementine and Tang) as they were getting too aggressive. I was heartbroken but it was too stressful watching terrified fish all day. C went after T several times a day, and T decided to hone in on the smallest rasbora and relentlessly harass it to the point it would hide all day in fear. But I found a LFC member with a huge tank (125) who was happy to take them. All the rasboras are back to their normal rambunctious behavior.
Cosmo is doing great - his face is now almost all blue.This time next year if I have to move to an apartment, he might be the only fish I am able to move and keep.

I've never had goldfish, but comet goldfish can get 12+ inches. JMHO thst 50 gallons is way too small for 5 large fish.

I said no because it (or an alternative such as shortening) is an essential ingredient in so many recipes. I think of condiments as optional and good, but of you're out of it, you can make do.

They just went for it I guess, and one day I found a bunch of fry on a water change and put them in the breeder basket. Then recently I decided the remaining ones were big enough and took the basket out, I could see behind it and found a bunch more fry! I guess if you feed them enough and have plants and hiding spots, a few survive. The parents (I have 5 male & 4 female adults) are constantly mating.
Edit: also, live baby brine shrimp occasionally, but they aren't big enough to eat that for quite some time; and dry fry food.

Here's my older fry, now starting to hang down lower, with the grownups, and on the other side of the tank from the youngins. Altogether I counted 19 fry today that are large enough not to be eaten by the parents. I'm so happy!!!

First off, I'm sorry to hear this and hope your lovely (I assume since they all are) betta survives. I would use aquarium salt as a first treatment. If nothing else it is supposed to help reduce stress. I think the low dose is 1 TBS per 3 gallons. Good luck!

I triple-dosed Cosmo's tank once and nothing bad happened. I went ahead and did one extra 20% WC and then water tested a few times over the next several days, and everything was fine.
