  1. Dark start is almost complete (maybe?) The test says that ammonia is at 0, nitrites at 0 and 100+ppm of nitrates The light is installed!!!
  2. The new tank is almost done. 2 weeks in dark start, I see 0.25 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 100 nitrates. Should be almost ready. Do you suggest to buy brand new plants or pick some from my other tank? My tank is 60cm tall (50 considering 8-15cm front-back soil thickness), I think that my intake is a bit short, it's 28cm. The other filter will have an intake with skimmer which should be 30 or 35cm
  3. After a while, here's a new update. DART START BEGINS Which do you suggest me? A fully Dutch style or semi with some dragon stone? Equipment: Tank: 110x50x60h (substrate starts from 8cm front till 15cm kn the back) Filter: 2 Oase Biomaster thermo 600 with 8 litres of Seachem matrix mad 500ml of purigen (250ml each filter) In/outflow: 2 Lily pipe and 1 inflow skimmer, 1 regular inflow glass. Substrate: 50kg tropica aqua soil Light: Week Aqua P900 with hanging kit (and if needed 1 chihiros WRGB2 Slim60)
  4. Thanks but, the rotalas looked way better last week. The macrandra had nice reds but now seems melting, even new growth are melting... Do you suspect a "burn" due to high Fe?
  5. I have posted few photos. I never seen this symptoms, do you suggest me to rid my own ferts and try again? Maybe dose a nutrient in each bottle?
  6. Yeah, to my EI mix for sure something is off. I see that on my macrandra's leaves, there some yellow/green stripes, and then it start to melt, it's happening on new growth too, and this is concerning me. I can even double the dose of APT3 daily and give 1ppm extra of po4. With apt 3 the plants were thriving but I had a lot of GSA and hair algae. Now seems that algae aren't growing or at least not fast as before.
  7. I'm dosing macro as suggested by plantedbox so 30ml x 100 litres should give me 20ppm no3 and 2ppm pork (but I'm dosing more po4 when I see that it drops to <0.5ppm, and I did a double dose the first day of macros). In addition to macro, I have added 28g of K2SO4 into macro mix, ti should give around 7ppm more K (KH2PO4 and KNO3, should give around 13-14ppm K weekly, I have added 7ppm more) And The same for micro, 30ml x 100L should give me 0.5Fe. I'm dosing both every other day (different days), 10ml.
  8. After few days of extra po4 dosing, I can clearly see that GSA isn't expanding anymore. But I have noticed new symptoms that are really worrying, because it affects new growth. As you can see, there are holes in the leaves, so I thought of K deficiency, but it's impossible that I'm lacking potassium in the tank, I dose KNO3, KH2PO4 and K2SO4. I'm probably in a range of 20-30 K. Then there are others symptoms too, macrandra are developing some yellowish veins and I noticed that the leaves are very thin.
  9. yes, i had problems initially, but after i shaked the bottle more vigorously, it dissolved. I still see some little grain at the bottom, but are too few for considering it "precipitated".
  10. Hi @Mmiller2001, yesterday i starting using my own ferts. I dosed in the morning, 10ml, after i dosed in the tank i had 10ppm nitrates and around 0.5ppm po4. i checked in the evening, around 10-15ppm nitrates and again 0ppm po4 so i dosed 10ml more and tested before going to bed, around 20-30ppm nitrates (it was shade was reddish, but not deep) and finally around 1ppm po4. but now, this morning i dosed micro and checked for po4 and no3. NO3 is 20ppm and Po4 is again 0. seems that my tank consume 1ppm or more po4 daily. Considering that i dosed micro this morning, can i dose po4? I have a bottle with all macros, that yields me 6-7ppm nitrates, a bit less than 1ppm po4 and 7-8ppm K, and then i have 1 bottle with only Po4 that yields me 1ppm per dose.
  11. You can use the free version of office 365 included in Microsoft edge, it's free
  12. Yes, it's amazing, rotala butterfly is great but IFC is insane. https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/ifc-aquarium-fertilizer-calculator.63045/ I haven't use it, it's, i was waiting for K2SO4.
  13. @Mmiller2001 Sorry for bothering you, i prepared 1 or 2 week ago a solution that gives me 20ppm no3 with KNO3 and 2ppm PO4 with KH2PO4 for 30ml x 100 litres tank. You suggested me to buy some K2SO4, for a bit more of K (based on IFC Calculator, without K2SO4, i have a weekly dose of 13ppm of K), i tried to replicate your formula but with less nutrients, so 20-2 and lastly, K to 25. IFC calculator says that i need to add 28,64g to the solution to reach 25ppm of K. Can i add it directly to the bottle of macro?
  14. Tomorow I'll post a "complete" photo of the tank, of seals outside the tank and of the seals that are inside the tank. The tank is filled with water since Sunday. I'm planning a 1-2 week of testing, (in facts the test will be much more longer because I'm planning to do a dark start that will last 1 month with only filter, substrate and hardscape). Hopefully 1 month will be enough for test it's stability.
  15. I have bought the shade too, but seems that it doesn't have mirror, do you think that It can be applied? It can improve the par right?
  16. i have just bought the WA P900 from the official site, they do world wide shipping https://weekaqua.world/it, it comes with hanging kit, shade and stand for 386$ incl shipping (the WRGB2 Pro, with the same accessories were 540$). What is the UV light that WA offers for?
  17. Hey, considering that im starting the 90g, i need a new light, i was buying the WRGB2 Pro90 but i remembered your post about Week Aqua P (P900 in my case), why you prefer it over Chihiros? have you used the WRGB2 Pro? the differences between the two are 2000lm but the Chihirso has 90led vs 156 of week aqua. The Week Aqua official site now support world wide shipping, i can buy the p900 with haning kit + stand + shipping at 360€, while the wrgb2 pro90 with same accessories is aroud 500€ but if the wrbg2 pro is worth the money i dont mind buying it
  18. yeah, to me is like the last photo, seems that the silicone is "streching". The seal inside the tank doesn't have any sign like this.
  19. Title, I have just filled my new 330l 90g tank I'm doing a 7 week stress test anyway.
  20. I dont know, in EU there aren't a lot of dry salts kit available https://planted-box.com/en/product/estimative-index-kit/ above the kit, its called "trace elements" i have found this https://www.ebay.it/itm/254105826999
  21. One thing, im tuning better the Co2. - Before the co2 starts at the 7:30am, the ph is 7.4 - When light turns on at 9am the ph is 6.7 - at 10am the ph is 6.6 and it remains 6.6 during all the photoperiod (i test it with a phmeter every 1 hour). 6.6 for my kh is 27ppm of co2, i was thinking in starting the co2 2h before light (not 1:30h) this way i should recover the 0.1 point. Do you think that i need to push a bit lower and aim for the 30-35ppm or 27ppm is good?
  22. Thanks, right now i own: • KNO3 • KH2PO4 • trace elements (it contains Fe, Cu, B, Mn, Mo, Zn, all elements are "chelate EDTA" idk what it means) in the description says 1 Tbsp of this salt should be dosed in 1 litres of osmosis water, then 30ml x 100L (26g) tank gives 0.5ppm of Fe • Fe DTPA • MgSO4 have i everything covered? or i miss some salts?
  23. Hi @Mmiller2001 i would like to revive this thread, considering that soon, probably today, i start a new 330L (around 90g) tank (i made a journal but is very "lacking" in info, well the tank isn't yet running so...). Using APT3 Complete will be extremely expensive (50€ for 1 litres, - 10ml x day - 70ml x week. 50€ every 3 months), but i want to use the same approach used in the APT 3. I know that there is a site called rotala butterly that should be helpful for preparing our own ferts. Do you think that i can "copy", considering that Dennis Wong give us (approx) the dosage weekly of APT3 , the amout of ferts used so that i can prepare the ferts by myself? I would like to create 3 bottles, 1 with micro, 1 with macro without nitrates and 1 with NO3 only so i'll dose it as needed without messing others macro. Is it a good idea? If you don't mind, can you help me with some calculations? i never prepared a ferts using dry salts. Thanks
  24. New day, new update I'll post a few photos of the tank, the living room is a mess, I'm "rescaping" it too lol. The tank underneath has a wood panel. As you can see, the packages near the tank, are about 50kg of tropica soil. This journals will be a bit boring considering that the tank will be ready in about a month. Meanwhile I'll post some photos of the actual 20g. Everything will be moved to the 90g
