  1. Should I treat the whole tank a second time or just the symptomatic fish?
  2. @Coluhi again. Since you gave me advice on treating my Panda Cory with the maracyn for barbel erosion I have been fighting a bigger problem. I ran a course of maracyn with ickx as per box directions. She didn't look any better. Then the same tank broke out with columaris. As per your instructions I used carbon to remove residual maracyn and started your jungle fizz and kanaplex treatment. I am into that now three days. There is only one rasbora that has any outward symptoms but he is pretty well covered with grey patches. He is eating and swimming around. When I complete this treatment should I see all of the symptoms on that one fish be gone?? If he still has patches should I treat him longer in a quarantine tank. I was going to pull the Cory too, how should I treat her after all this. Her barbels are sty pretty bad. Thank you for all your help.
  3. A month ago I got a small Trapdoor Snail. I added it to my Betta tank. I didn't quarantine it because I read snails don't carry fish diseases now thinking that I can get might be wrong. Ammonia 0 nitrites 0 ph 7 well cycled tank is. About two weeks ago my Betta started to show symptoms of bloat, swollen belly, and extremely lethargic. He use to be extremely active and now all he does is sit on the bottom of the tank. I fasted him and have been feeding daphnia and spiralina for a week. He has a really good appetite and still eats really well. Could the snail have given him anything??? I also have a few neo shrimp with him. FYI I got him from a lps a year ago and he is a dragon scale with diamond eye and completely blind. I knew it when I got him. I taught him to eat in a feeding ring. He has also had multiple small tumors coming on over the last few months. What should I do. I'm reluctant to move him to a quarantine tank because of him being blind. I have also considered he could be getting old. The thing I don't understand is why is his appetite so good for him acting so sick? Thank you for your help!!!
  4. @ColuTwo more questions. My aquarium is heavily planted with Anubias and java fern. Should I remove the plants prior to treating with kanaplex and jungle fizz or will they be ok. Can the plants carry colomaris back into the tank after treatment? I currently have just finished a maracyn and ickx treatment after the water change should I run charcoal in the filter to remove residual drugs before starting the new meds if so for how long. Thank you for all your help and time.
  5. @ColuI ordered the jungle fizz and already have kanaplex. Thank you for your help. I wanted to make sure these are safe for my hillstream loach and Cory at the dosage you recommended. Also I have a food with kanamycin and metronidazole and nitrofurazone in it would this help? If so how would I use it, with the other meds or alone?? How much do I feed? Everyone is eating well right now. Again I am worried about the loaches and Cory. It's my understanding that the meds kanaplex and fizz will harm my plants should I take them out of the tank?? Thanx again!!!!
  6. After quarantine of lamb chop rasbora and all looking good I added them to my tank, I now see one with a small white growth on his mouth and one with grey looking patches on its body. I suspect columaris. Completed one set of maracyn and today started maracyn and ickx for a week long soak as per aquarium co-op. I am worried about ammonia spike. So far all readings have been 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites low nitrates. If I see a spike what do I do. I use prime, do I add according to their website for spikes or do a water change? If I do a water change do I add back in removed medication? Is this the best plan for the suspected disease?? What else should I do. I have the rasbora, one female Betta, hillstream loach and Cory catfish. The two symptomatic fish have been in the tank over a week should I still remove them and put them into a quarantine tank and stop treating my main tank or just keep treating the main tank because everyone has been exposed already?? It seems to be one thing after another with this tank. Getting discouraged and feeling very bad for the fish 🐠😪. Thank you for your help.
  7. Hey all, I searched this forum and shockingly didn't find anything on barbel erosion in Cory catfish. So here it goes....... I have had terrible luck with panda corys over the last year. Long story short.... I have one Panda left and she is now showing signs of barbel erosion. None of the other pandas I lost showed symptoms of this problem. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 15 nitrates. Weekly 25 percent water changes. Over filtered using a hang on back with a uv light and two sponge filters. I think it's because I cut back on feeding after I lost the others and she had to work too hard in the sand searching for food and nicked her barbels. I have started feeding her more and using wafers. She is active and eating well. Is this contagious to other Cory's or other fish?? (I'm reluctantly considering getting more pandas so she is not alone.) Is it possible for this to go away without medication??? If I have to medicate, should I treat the tank or quarantine her to treat just her? What medication do you recommend? She lives with a giant Betta female and two reticulated hillstream loach. In a heavily planted 15 gallon tank. You have been so helpful in the past and I appreciate any advice I get from this post.💜🦐🐟
  8. @Colu what should I do if only the one Cory is flashing and no one else??? I check my tanks parameters every day. All has been good for a very long time. Thank you for your help.
  9. No ammonia spike and no carbon......she is one of two original Cory's I got about six months ago. I added two more about three months ago and unfortunately didn't quarantine, kinda new at this aquarium stuff. They both were pretty wimpy when I added them. Within two weeks they died. My male started flashing I started treating with paracleanse round one and he did the same thing flashing on day five of the treatment. Two days before round two he was eating, swimming, seemed okay then the next hour he was laying upside down , mouth wide open and dead. My remaining girl started flashing The next-day. I started round two of paracleanse then. I don't know what else it could be. I wish I knew. Thanks for the advice. All other fish are eating great, active and not flashing.
  10. Funny thing is none of those things are going on. Eating well getting fat, she runs in the bubbles alot. I see flashing several times a day...... Can I use aquarium salt on hillstream loach??? If so what dosage?
  11. I seek advice again about gill flukes. One Cory flashing. Eating great. Betta and hillstream loach are not. Just finished round two of by the box directions of paracleanse. She looks good and not flashing from day one of treatment thru day five when I do the water change and both times she started flashing again on day five. Just did water change today and need to do something different. What is level two for treating Gill flukes since I have not seen improvement after two trys with paracleanse?? I just ordered prazipro will that help being a stronger dose?? Tank parameters are perfect 15 gallon heavy planted two hillstream, one female Betta, unfortunately only one Cory catfish until I get this under control then friends for her 🙂 Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 20 Temp 77-78 pH 7.2 ish Thank you for your help 💜🦐🐟
  12. Hi all, Weird question..... I know that you should keep schools of the same species of Cory catfish together. I have regular Panda Corys. Can I add long finned Panda Corys to make a small school?? Will they recognize each other as the same species????? Or should I just get more regular Pandas???? Thank you for your help!!!

    Gill flukes???

One panda Cory has been flashing for a couple of weeks. No one else in tank is flashing. Every one eating great and active and fat including Cory in question. Two corys (going to get two or three more when this is cleared up) two hillstream loach and a Betta female. In a 20 gal. pH 7.5 Temp 77-78 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 5 heavily!!! planted tank Ammonia 0 I just finished medicating with paraclense yesterday according to the box instructions. One Cory is flashing again today. What is the next step?? I ordered food with prazi and metronidazole in it haven't got it yet. I still have paraclense too. Only one fish has been flashing and he has red gills. I think he's got gill flukes. Please tell me what I should do next. Thank you very much!!!!
