  1. Recently purchased an aquarium background from Universal Rocks after watching an Aquarium Co-Op video and I’m curious as to what is the best method to install it. This is my first 3D in tank background I’ve had and want to make this as smooth of an install as possible.
Is there an in water silicone/adhesive paste that would work well where I don’t have to drain the tank?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. No questions here. Just a little post of a good tank remodel this past weekend. Wish there was a bit more height to the dragon stone but once the background plants grow back it’ll fill in nicely I think. Was able to make the Co-Op cave fit in nicely. Once the plants grow in I’m going to purchase 8-12 Amano Shrimp to help with the algae issue a bit. But I’m very happy with the transformation and it’s new look.

  3. I’ve had this 20G tank for about a year now and for the last 4-5 months I’ve been dealing with some algae on my plants. Some I think is staghorn but some other algae I don’t know what it is. It’s just like green fuzz algae all over some of the leafs and it kills my Tiger Lotus…sad. Curious to know what you guys would think is the best course of action. I had some Amano Shrimp that slowly dwindled by jumping out but they never really ate anything. 3 Otos and Nerite snails that don’t touch it. I’m going to try and keep the Nitrates at 20 or below because they’ve been around 40-80 when I do water changes. Any help or advice would be very appreciated. Along with any help to improve my Tiger Lotus. Thanks

  4. Just stopped at my local Petsmart and found that all Fluval lights are on clearance and a 24”-36” light is $90 when it’s normally $170!!! Trying to decide if I should go back and buy one to have 2 on my tank or just to have one for a further tank. What do you guys think I should do? And also this post was for anyone thinking about getting a Fluval light or maybe starting a new tank to go look at Petsmart and take a look.

  5. Looking at my tank adjusting for some algae control and found this on some Vasisnaria (definitely spelled that wrong). WHAT IS THIS STUFF?!?!?  Found something like it the other day during a water change floating around and I just thought it was weird roots or something but now I saw more of it. Should I be concerned?

  6. I’ve been dealing with some algae on my plants in my 20 gallon for awhile. It’s mostly on some fast growing green plants which is fine because you can’t really see them that well but my Red Tiger Lotus and another red plant I have are growing the green algae also and I can’t seem to beat it. The Tiger Lotus just started growing the algae but the other red plant has dealt with it for awhile and I just cut off the leafs. I’m wondering if anyone can identify this algae that’s growing on the leaf’s and what can I do to stop it from growing and ruining my red plants. I don’t run CO2 and don’t plan to. My aquarium light is one for 10hrs, used to be full day cycle about 2 months ago, and I have Otos, nerite snails and multiple Amano Shrimp. Nothing has an interest in eating that algae. Please help.

  7. I just added crushed coral in a mesh bag in my HOB filter to raise my PH and KH/GH. PH is around 6.8, KH is 3 drops and GH is 5 drops using the API test kit. I have Amano shrimp, Nerite snails, neons, Otos, Panda Corys & Peacock Goby’s in a planted tank.

My question is how much crushed coral should I use and for how long should I leave it in. Is it something that I can just leave in or do I have to remove it when the water is in the parameters that I want. Also how much do I use or does it not matter? I have around a 1/4 cup in the bag. Thanks.

  8. @Patrick_G the red spectrum is only because of the time of day(9-10pm). The tank used to be on a 8am-10pm day cycle but because of some algae issues it be reduced it down to 10hrs. I’ll attach a picture of what it looks like normally. I just wish I bought some drift wood or some rocks at the AquaShella to improve it but it was my first time with so much to look at I didn’t think of it till on my drive home. 7707EA83-210C-404E-BE98-66069AE7BF77.jpeg.8a6e4ed8057b49fdc019e977464071e8.jpeg

  9. @face don’t get me wrong I love the fish and want them in the tank as well. With my tank I just don’t like how it looks like a jumble of plants together surrounding a fake piece of wood and a bed of sand for my panda corys. I want it to look more natural, like a wall of just lush green and red plants in the background that’s crystal clear with my neons and peacock goby’s swimming through the thick vegetation where the color just pops. I watch Co-Ops videos all the time on how to get it to where I want but I feel I’m limited on space in a 20G high and I’m also a 22y/o child that wants the final picture now to enjoy it rather than the pain staking wait for it to develop😅. Especially since this is my first planted tank since the first artificial tank I had was back when COVID went crazy and when I came back stateside. CAF8A4BF-5C92-4938-887B-A4575F484BC9.jpeg.faf5e0b9cc059c935b41bea8812ec352.jpeg

  10. I’ve tried to get rid of some algae that’s been covering my plants and nothing seems to be working. I’ve added Amano Shrimp, Nerite snails and Otos. I try and dose Easy Green 1 pump a week (20g tank) but nothing is helping. I recently changed my Hygger light from the all day cycle to a 12hr cycle to see if it’ll help but I recently saw the Easy Carbon and was wondering if you guys would recommend it and what you think of it.

  11. @nabokovfan87thank you for responding. I’d like to start dosing today or tomorrow. I’ll try and take some more pictures but he/she likes to hide in the back with the plants. But the eyes appear to foggy like a ring around the black center. And they do appear to be popped out a little or at least the foggy part. The Cory is tiny but I wouldn’t say thin I would just say small in general. I’ve used Fritz Maracyn with the Cory’s before to get rid of BGA but didn’t have shrimp at the time. And yes it is ECO complete but I also have a sand part of the tank for them to dig in. I’m about to test the water now so I’ll send you a message in a couple minutes.

  12. Recently bought Panda Cory’s and I’m pretty sure one of the babies is getting Popeye. Looks hazy with slight protruding. I have some Fritz Maracyn that I’m going to use but I have Amano shrimp in the tank and was wondering if they’ll be fine? I’ve used it before with snails. Will the shrimp be ok when I dose the tank? Don’t have a hospital tank. Also why does this happen? It is a stress thing or just a sickness. Thanks
