Bruce Trathen
Quick question to any who keep Musk turtles. I am planning on getting one and have herd and found mixed info on whether they need a UVB light since they spend most of their time in the water. My water has plenty of KH so calcium should be ok for shell growth. Any advice would be appreciated.
Chaos_Corrupter
I use a 24" inch T8 uvb with mine. From my experience, I found that while they don't necessarily bask as frequently as like a slider, they do sit around near the water surface. So I like to provide a big surface area for them to get uvb.

Chaos_Corrupter
No problem! Musk turtles are funky little things. I always see mine holding onto a log at the surface but I rarely see them actually haul themselves onto it.
