Epona01
Why does the stem plants get roots all up and down the stem? Could it be lack of nutrients or Co2? Edited January 17, 2021 by Epona01
Kirsten
I think it's just natural for ludwigia, which I think this is. The plants in your picture look a little algae-choked which might be why it's trying to send out roots everywhere for nutrients and may break apart to form smaller plants with their own root systems. Try deploying some algae eaters and cutting back a little on the lights and nutrients til the algae is cleaned up, then see what you got afterwards and try gently sinking any free-floating pieces with plant weights. Epona01
Its Scarlet Temple. And yes algae is a problem. I cut light to 50% and put in a siesta about 2 weeks ago. I got nerite snails and bristlenose. Never know if I should put the easy green in or not. I haven't in 2 weeks.
Kirsten
I'd wait til you see a noticeable reduction in algae before hitting it with easy green again.
Epona01
I just made it go straight up then down instead of staying on 50% for awhile. Seems to me I could have gotten a much cheaper light if I dont need any lol
Koi
Aerial roots are normal with a lot of stem plants. It mostly serves as a closer source to absorb nutrients for the plant as they get taller.
