Ryan1988
Hello, Just hoping to get some input on this newly planted 75 gal with algae. I believe it is diatom but i've never seen diatom get such a green layer at the top of the tank or in my case while cleaning the class stuck to my arm lol. It is the consistency of diatom that dust like powder but just wanted some thoughts. Also, I have no ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates so i'm hesitant on doing a water change since the fish are swimming around just fine. thoughts on that as well? Thank you, Ryan. FLFishChik
It looks ( in my opinion) like Green water or Green Dust algae. Either way, it would mean there’s an excess of light and/or nutrients. ACO has an article about different types of algae and how to get it under control https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/aquarium-algae#:~:text=Brown (and sometimes green) diatom, shrimp) like to eat it.
