Amazon Sword Issue

My Amazon Sword is starting to deteriorate and I am wondering if it’s a nutrient deficiency or if my bristlebose plecos are eating away at it?

I just put 3 root tabs under it because it seems to be getting worse.

I think it’s the plecos. Looks like what my BNs did to my swords many moons ago. 

What are you feeding and how often to your plecos? I feed mine squash or cucumbers 2-3 x a week with bell pepper and pleco ceramics pleco wafers 2 x a week and some Repashy once a week.

If you don’t provide them with a constant source of food to rasp on then Your sword plants are their second favorite food! 

As for the swords they’ll come back. Root tabs around the base 2-3 every month for a couple months and they’ll be right as rain. Trim the dead or dying off as well. 

Have fun, it’s happened to many of us and it’s just part of the process with BN plecos.

Do the leaves feel crispy outside of water? 

 

I had the same issue with mine but I had no BN in that tank. It can be BN too, but in my case I believe sword just didnt like my water at all. No matter what I did, I couldnt save it. Meanwhile I had other Echinodorus THRIVING in the same tank under exact same conditions🤷🏼‍♂️

My large sword plants were getting decimated by small BN, even with feeding them zucchini daily. After a bacteria bloom from feeding so much zucchini to try to keep them off the swords I moved them out and haven’t had issues since.
