Leaving betta for a few days after buying them

Hello,

Is it ok to leave a betta alone for a few days after getting them? I want to get my fish today, but I'm leaving in two days for a 5 day vacation. Will the betta be ok or should I wait until after my vacation to get it? Thanks!

5 days seems like a long time to leave a fish on it's own, especially in a brand new environment. If it were me, I'd wait.  Is anyone else there to care for him, or will he be totally alone?

99% chance fish will be fine, but because it's a new setup, it doesn't hurt to wait until you are back.

Typically a fish will do completely fine while you are gone on a 5 day vacation. I would hesitate to do this with a new fish however because issues are more likely to come up when they are new than when they are established. I tend to monitor them a lot for the first week when I get a new one. It's a getting to know you phase as well as making sure there is nothing wrong with them. In all likelihood it could work out just fine but I personally would wait unless there was some time line getting in the way like a specific one I wanted is only available now or something.

Is it a new tank as well? Or one you've had running for a while? Any tank mates that may cause issues? I would wait if it were me.
