billango
Not sure how many people this is news to but this is the first time I've seen a GloFish corydora in stores. I've heard that was going to become a thing but it seems like it has now made it into the big chain stores. Not really my jam but I don't have strong judgements on GloFish. I am curious what is the next fish they will attempt this with though. Glo Mbu puffer when?
Pepere
In a few months I am upgrading to a 29 gallon display tank replacing my 20 high. when I do the 20 high is going in at lower level and will be a glofish tank for my 2 3 year old grandsons. I figure on glo cories and glo tetras..

I figure on glo cories and glo tetras.. I think that’s awesome for your grandkids! Glowfish are also not my jam but at least cories are very peaceful and fairly hardy. The other glowfish are hyper and semi (some even full out) aggressive for a community tank. My daughter wanted some so bad but I refused to dedicate a tank for just the danios or just the tetras (as housing both adequately required such a big tank). She now keeps several planted betta tanks.
Pepere
In addition to the Cories they also have Pristella tetra glo fish which take a little less room than the black skirt tetra glo fish. I was thinking 5 Pristella glo fish tetra, 5 cory glo fish (they are Bronze cories in case anyone wondered) and maybe 5 glowlight tetras. And the tank will have plenty of hiding spaces and be heavily planted.
PerceptivePesce
I for one am not ashamed to admit I like GloFish! I saw some long-fin glofish online, they're real pretty!
Pepere
The thig I dislike about glofish is that they primarily seem to appeal to kids and kids tanks are constrained by their parents budget. I say this as a former child fish keeper. My parents made the decision that a ten gallon was plenty big and comet gold fish were cheap to buy and did not need a heater… I can see where parents would do similar with Glo Fish. And since they are pricey per each, only get 2 or 3 in a small tank…. And little education sought on issues such as water changes, testing etc… My sisters neighbor has a 20 gallon tank with Black Skirt Tetra Glo Fish and complained about Algae growth and how she only uses the black light due to algae growth. No she doesnt have plants, doesnt want to bother with them, and doesnt do water changes, just tops off water level as needed. “The water is fine it is nice and clear.” “Besides, I have a bottle that instantly converts ammonia nitrites and nitrates.” “I cant possibly have too much nitrates.” Actual verbatim quotes…. I’d rather buy two regular Aeneus Cories for that!
