Java fern babies

Quite often they turn into tank tumble weed for me, I  periodically fish them out and tie them to things to distribute around the tanks. They can take over though, but useful to have if you have a new tank top set up.

My Betta likes to wedge herself in the floating bundles so that means I can't keep them to tidy.

What do you do with the little offspring of Java ferns?

I like to attach them back to the piece of wood the parent came from, or attach them in other tanks. I actually just sold a guy a large plant package with some Java fern, so that may be an option, too.

If they're relatively close to the substrate I tend to poke them in, if not wait until they reach a decent size and cut them off and plant.

Java fern aren't meant to be buried in the substrate. They like to be attached to hardscape so the roots are free to absorb nutrients directly from the water column. I suppose if you have large enough substrate it may work, but you run the risk of rot otherwise.
