Pookieq
Hello all! So recently I set up my first tank in years. I’ve decided to go the planted route and I’ve noticed that I’ve gotten more than I bargained for. In addition to one large bladder snail, I seem to be on the precipice of a population boom after a decent plant melt. But then I noticed these three black stripes on the backside of my thermometer’s suction cup. They seem to be eggs, but I’m not sure of what. Do any of you recognize them? I forgot to mention that the snails are the only animals I’m aware of in there. Thanks! Edited September 30, 2022 by Pookieq
Katherine
If those are as small as I think (scale is hard for me in photos) they may be snail poop.
AnimalNerd98
I agree, it looks like snail poop. What kind of snails do you have? Malaysian trumpets are livebearers so you won’t see eggs. Rabbit snails lay large white eggs (size of pencil eraser). Ramshorn snails and bladder snails lay clusters of translucent eggs that remind you of mini frog eggs.
TheSwissAquarist
Snail poop, because I’ve never seen eggs like that before! Welcome to the forum btw.
Pookieq
. Ha! Thanks everyone!! I thought they were awfully funny looking for eggs. And to be clear, I haven’t purposefully stocked the tank with anything. By all appearances I’ve got at least one bladder snail.
