TrueNorth
Hello Has anyone experience with breeding coral red Pencilfish? I have a group of 12 swimming in a 20 long right now and have two 5g and a 10g without fish in it right now. I would like to try to set them up to breed. Looking for some help and advice on how to do it. Like what to feed to condition them, separate male and females, how to prepare spawning tank, what substrate to spawn them, how to raise the eggs and young fish Water parameters of course Just everything that would help me to be successful. Thank you very much

TheSwissAquarist
pH under or around 6.5 male/female ratio of 1/1 fry hatch after 1 day, free swimming after 5. otherwise like Nannostomus Beckfordi. Translated from a French book published in 2003 I hope its helpful🙂

TheSwissAquarist
It's supposedly the easiest Nannostomus to breed.
gardenman
Live food in excess is always a good kick starter to get a fish to spawn. Fish want to spawn and reproduce, much of the time we just have to get out of their way.
