20 Tall Phishman
This tank is 1.5 months old, cycled, 3 Gourami’s added 1.5 weeks ago. Temp 78, PH 7.5, GH 180, KH 120, 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites, 0-5 Nitrate. Planted tank, feeding flake food. All the fish have been doing great until today. I noticed this when the lights came on. Fish did not eat with the others. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
20 Tall Phishman
The only thing I an come up with is swim bladder. I have turned the lights out. Is there medication for this?
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
Your parameters are good. Being that the fish are so new, it's very likely that this fish could have arrived with an illness, despite not showing outward symptoms. Do you have the option to move this fish out to a quarantine tank?
20 Tall Phishman
I do not. I lack an extra heater. I have some meds on hand. Maracyn, paracleanse, ich x.
_Eric_
Is the fish still like that? I had a fish that took about half an hour to “wake up” after lights came on. Was fine once he got going. If it is still hanging down there, he is probably sick. I would quarantine him in a separate tank or tub. I wouldn’t worry about a heater unless room temp gets below 70. You would probably need a sponge filter or air stone though. If a QT just won’t work, you could hit the whole tank with a treatment. Would be better to identify the disease/parasite but could do the med trio as a proactive measure while you monitor and try to pinpoint what is happening.
