Apistogramma Borelli tank mates

I have a pair of apistogramma borelli in a tank by themselves. My lfs has some furcata rainbows that I really want. Would the rainbows be good tank mates for the apistogramma?

I’m not sure because it depends on the tank size but if you only have a 20 gallon tank you could do pencil fish they are a great tank mate for apistos. But if you have a big tank you could probably have most top water schooling fish, just don’t pick any bottom dwellers.

Got cha. They are in a 20 gallon.

Ok like I said you could do pencil fish they have many different types and go well with apistos Or hatchet fish would work well if you picked the small type.

I’ve never had pencil fish. I’ll check them out. Thanks!
