  1. I'm just going to wing it cuz I can't have more eggs
  2. If I separate my male axolotl out... which really needs done...can I simply change 50% water til I think its good? His transfer tank has not cycled
  3. I would buy the co op one in a heartbeat if I got some direction. It might be too much air but it's also out of stock.
  4. So I've not spoken for awhile and thought I have explaining to do ๐Ÿ˜€ I can't seem to keep up atm or barely keep up. This first clutch was a surprise and while I started setting up for them and trying to figure out one for my "HIM" I ended up with my other female laying eggs๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ busy lil guy I'd say lol...still not giving up... Wanted to add here that I have lost some of the original clutch. Ok so the tub I found that all 10 were gone was upsetting but no idea why it happened. The big huge thing is the 2 losses I caused ๐Ÿ˜“
  5. I'm overwhelmed at being able to chat about my hobby that others enjoy also! Thank you so much!! Here's an update on baby Axolotl..I have exactly 100 today. Shown in pic is a temporary setup to get by which makes my life a bit easier and their life better;) top 2 tanks are my inferior ones which hold 9 on left and 11 on right...all others hold 10 each. They are doing good I think. I've never done this before so I'm winging it. Feed everyday and 100% water change with declorinated water, air stone on gentle cycle and not much water. Plan is to increase water with size and add nano sponge on gentle. Then probably beg for homes๐Ÿคฃ
  6. This is air pump I bought but I don't think it's going to do the job I need it to
  7. I've posted about my axie babies and bought a bunch of stuff to adjust we will say...biggest thing is the air part...I thought I bought a monster air pump that was quiet but I think I was mistaken...this is my need for air: 2x large sponge filters (1 in two 55gal) 4x nano sponge filters(2 in each 20gal long) 12x nano sponge (1 in around 2gal tubs) My main 55gal tanks don't necessarily need different filters just thought it would be better as in less outlets, less heat in tank, and slightly smaller space. What I currently use does bio, light, and air all in one. My axolotl tank I try real hard to aim for 65ยฐF which I've done since last Aug but its rough sometimes. Any suggestions I really appreciate as im having some dilemma in switching to air.
  8. I've only ever kept 4 turtles but have rescued, revived, and released many. Most turtles from your place of living are completely fine. Maybe a push in right location of water is a great thing to do. Sometimes people have brought me a turtle from out of state to care for because they couldn't and it was dying. Please don't do this, it's illegal for most part and it doesn't help the turtle. Just direct it in its appropriate direction as strong will survive...another is petstores...." wanted it and now have no interest and I want it gone"...ok but not in the middle of winter...here in Ohio red eared sliders are fine to have fine to go to wild but the one you got from store needs to know how to be wild. Definitely don't set out in winter!! Please that's how I got 2 of mine sorry for being dramatic. They live for lots of years. Ertle is around 19yrs old and still perfectly active. If you have an aquatic turtle and are aggrevated of its dirty tank then give it more water,a filter ,air of sorts then water changes. It's really easy to get a clean turtle tank even though they are probably #1 on dirtiest list. I can help with this issue if anyone has it ๐Ÿ˜‰
  9. I live by a nature reserve for birds and keep an outdoor pond. We have eagles, hawks cranes, you name it its like Jurassic Park sometimes but not so good for outside ponds...a Crane took 2 of my beautiful butterfly blues one summer(3yrs ago I think) did all research and nothing worked to deter it from wanting to return for buffet but came across one thing that seemed ridiculous but it worked...a radio ๐Ÿ˜† no big predator birds come anywhere near as long as I have human voice heard by the pond now. Food for thought that I wanted to share is all. โค๏ธ

    Filters

Cycling water is kinda same subject as in the following always worked for me...I get a new tank then I add 50% water from an old tank then add fresh to both...new tank I add a fish(most of the time its a goldfish) til the new tank's full time resident is here. Could be instantly or sometimes a few days. Water change (50%) once a week there after. Til things look good then accordingly. Alot of my tanks don't need water changes but only need filled. Axolotl tanks im super protective about so I definitely do even if it's only my nitrates at 30-35...am I wrong for this? Am I missing something

Trying to figure out what others are stating that will "clean" tank. I've had hang on the back with aquariums and don't want those ever again. Power outage is dreadful for them as they need primed after power is restarted or pump is likely to burn up mind no filtration during. Under gravel ones are too problematic imo...I have some really big gravity filters and some submersible ones that I use for oxygenation, release of toxic gases and bennificial bacteria. None clean the tanks or ponds...they do get full and need rinsed out but noway they take care of the cleaning.
  14. Maybe because of aquatics I keep but my understanding is filters don't do any house cleaning. They provide bennificial bacteria and water movement for gases correct? Or is there a super filter that house cleans as well? Reason I ask this is because I have read many things about this fish or that fishes create lots if waste and you have to have this and that filter. I learned from experience that filters don't clean only I do lol. Water changes and cleaning decor but not cleaning filter is the way to go.
