My city water is hard. It wreaks havoc on my my appliances, such as my refrigerator ice maker. I'm considering installing a whole house scale inhibitor. It doesn't soften the water. But, rather prevents the minerals from coming out of solution. The "filter" uses a polyphosphate resin or something. Does anyone know if this this type of scale inhibitor is safe to use for aquarium water? I know there are issues with traditional salt-based water softening systems. But, this does not use salt and works completely differently.
Here is link to a representative scale inhibitor: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NKETXQ/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
