I’m currently running ecocomplete in one of my tanks and black diamond in the other two. I’m pilot testing two aqua soils as caps for the black diamond: tropica powder and brightwell.
Plants responded immediately to the additional aqua soil. I did not notice an ammonia spike with either, but I added it gradually rather than all at once. The tropica was a much better shade (more black) vs the brightwell which was more brown.
for eco, you must use plant weights or everything floats back up and you will lose your mind.
