  1. I have been breeding fish now for over fifty years. Its time lots of time. Time learning, feeding and cleaning. The most important item is cleanliness and I cannot stress this enough. Others may have a different opinions then me, but a clean tank is a healthy tank, it has work for me and that is the key. Now that I'm up to 93 tanks it great to have so many grandkids. LOL This hobby takes time, as I have heard Dean say people fail because they don't put in the time. Never a truer word spoken. IMHO

  2. Your Ph is extremely high for oto's, nor do I feel that they will live at this high level. I keep mine at 7.0 which is still a little high, but most of mine are offspring from my breeding pairs. They are in a tank with twigs and lots of leaf litter. I feed Repashy(available @ Aquarium Co-Op) Super Green, Bottom Scratcher and Soilent Green and Zucchini and Green Beans. They seem to enjoy these types of food.

  3. I delivered some fish to a local fish fish store and on my way out I noticed a 3 foot 12 gallon bookcase aquarium. It caught my eye, so I made the purchase. When I got home the Mrs. said "what another one", "what are you going to do with it". Ah, the question you cant answer. I did a little thinking and came up with the idea of the far end of the kitchen table(a very large table). I set it up with water, lights and heater. Most of my tanks are bare bottom. By chance a friend of mine called to chat and I told him about the tank. He said why not give Neolamprogus Multifasciatus a try. He told me the particulars of the species and said he would send me six. I have never keep Africans before so off to the bookcase to find some info.

I went and bought some crushed coral, cichlid mix, snail shells(48) and gray rock with white striations( I forgot the name). Set it all up and had the fish sent. What a delightful bunch of characters they are. Never hid, always playing and darting in and out of shells. Now, we sit at the kitchen table just to watch the fish. Better than anything on TV. Give them a try you wont be disappointed.

I guess I'm just curious how my own habits tend to match up or differ from others and their tanks.

    I would ask:

    1. How many tanks do you have?  83
    2. How many times a day do you feed? 2 to 6 depending on species
    3. Do you, of have you ever, target fed some species in the AM, some in the PM hours after the lights go out? Yes, cory's and plecos
    4. Do you feed certain foods on certain days? The same thing every day? yes and no depends as I have to have every new fish-food on the market(lol). Live brine shrimp twice a day every day.

  5. No, the tank is about 10yrs. Just came all of a sudden, no reason I can think of except a new plant???

My huge female Betta is taking care of them. Been about 30 yrs. since I have had any of these. Thanks for all the help.
