[Prazipro dosed - then what?]

Wow, super helpful. I guess because I did prazipro yesterday/first, my schedule will be slightly different but should get at the same thing.

Do I feed the fish the same during all of this? I normally only feed once a day (with one fast day a week) so overfeeding isn't an issue.

Nowhere to put my snails so I guess will just have to risk it with them.

Have enough dechlorinated water to do a 50% water change immediately if any adverse symptoms are seen in the fish.

A typical treatment regimen: 

1. 50% water change with careful siphoning of debris from the bottom of the tank.

2. Dose with levamisole and black out the tank for 24 hours.  Then 50% water change siphoning the entire bottom of the tank.

3. Dose with praziquantal directly after the second 50% WC.

4. One week later, 50% water change siphoning the bottom thoroughly.  Dose with levamisole following directions in step 1-2.

5. One week later (start of week 3 of treatment), repeat all steps 1-4 over another 2 weeks time.

6. Repeat all steps 1-5, then do last WC one week later after third dose of praziquantal.

Not all snails will tolerate treatments, so best to remove any snails in the tank.

 

Condensed, weekly schedule:

Week 1: siphon debris and do 50% water change, levamisole x 24 hrs, siphon.  Treat with praziquantal and leave in until next week.

Week 2: siphon, levam x 24 hrs, siphon.

Week 3: siphon, levam x 24 hrs, siphon, then prazi.

Week 4: siphon, levam x 24 hrs, siphon.

Week 5: siphon, levam x 24 hrs, siphon, then prazi.

Week 6: siphon.

Cross posted on another forum, just looking to get the full extent of expertise. 

After a number of fish dieing off one by one over a period of a few months,  seems I have some sort of parasite. No symptoms outside of the dead fish.

Yesterday I dosed prazipro (20gallon). Just wait now and assume/hope it works? Dose again in 5 days?  I also ordered a couple other recommendations for meds I could try at the end of the prazipro window.

[Heater malfunction - EE displayed]

Last October I ordered and began using the 100w Aquarium Co-Op heater.  Loved it.  This morning it began malfunctioning (I assume) and alternately displaying 73 and EE.  I put another thermometer in the water which is reading just over 74.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

[Possible to mail cycled filter media?]

No idea how to accomplish the air pump in a way that doesn't break the bank and the post office will actually ship.  I suppose breather bag with sponge and tank water in it, some sort of insulation (styrofoam?) and a relatively quick delivery.

Thanks. Makes sense. I have never ordered or mailed fish but I thought sometimes it takes a few days and they are ok. Are the bacteria different so it would require overnight?

Open to any ideas to make this possible.  I'd like to mail some of my cycled (2 year) media to my sister to help jumpstart their new tank. Maybe a sponge and/or some of my seachem matrix I keep in a bag in the hob.

Normal mail probably takes 3-5 days.

Can bag it up with water? Secured plastic tupperware container?  Any other ideas?

Well,  looks like I have the beginnings of some bba on these rocks in my 20g. Have begun using liquid fertilizer every other day the last few weeks since I'm changing from fake plants to live.  Currently have a rotala, some anubias, jave fern, Java moss, a bit of dwarf hair grass, and two bulbs that have grown amazingly. 

Before this I was thinking about getting a pair of American flag fish so maybe it is time to do it.
