Are you referring to his tophat blennies? They are very lovely fish and I hope to have some in my mangrove tank, especially now that they are captive bred. Makes the burden rest a little easier on my shoulders. Those are also brackish fish.

Nope but I have experience with them in a laboratory setting. Although I believe my professor's was a personal pet of his. Couldn't tell you the variety but I believe it was a locally caught one. Here in the puget sound we have a LOT of river fed tributaries so most fish here can tolerate salinity fluctuations of 1.008-1.030 rather commonly. Although in a laboratory setting we cheat we have pipes that return and feed fresh sound water estuarine animals quite like it. An inline UV filter prevents most cross contamination.

    Wow, that’s cool. Thanks

Just like any saltwater fish labeled as freshwater, they come from estuarine environments and can tolerate freshwater for a long duration, but prefer brackish environments.

See also freshwater morays, freshwater tonguefish, and freshwater pipefish.

Freshwater frogfish can be an intriguing addition to the home. They are rather sedentary so do not require a large tank. They are quite content with multiple hides to move around to and they become fond of their handler as they really enjoy eating. Since they enjoy eating nothing is safe to inhabit this tank with them except small shrimp, copepods, and worms.

    Do you have one?

To fix it you just have to wait.  Last time I put a new diffuser in it took about a day to full saturate.

I've never really been sure about sizes of diffusers.  I have a medium on my 20 gallon and a medium on my 44 gallon and they both do fine.   I don't think the size would matter its more about how much you're pushing into the tank and how well its diffusing.

Ok I will give it some time, and thank you for your help!

ahh ok.  So what I'm thinking is that the disk isn't fully saturated so the bubbles might be getting trapped down there.

This is mine running 1bps as well

Oh ok. How can I fix it

I do have a large co2 diffuser in a 7 gallon. Do you think it’s too small

How long has the co2 been going?   It takes a bit to fully saturate the disk.   The flow looks about right for 1bps but I don't have the multiple bubbles stacked up inside the diffuser like in your picture.  I'm not sure what would cause that.

Yes I’m confused too. The co2 has been running for about an hour now

  8. Hi everyone, I just got a new CO2 system this week and just have had it set up. It’s in a 7 gallon tank with a Betta. This is really my first time but does this look normal to anyone who has experience. The psi is at 25 and I have my bubble counter at one bubble per second

  9. Hi I am setting up my own co2 system soon and have a few questions!

    • How many bubbles per second for a 20 gallon and 7 gallon tank.
    • when should my co2 start after the lights are on my lights are 7 hours a day.
    • what is a ideal psi for 7 and 20 gall

    Thanks

What I would do is a 50% water change  add some crushed coral in a media bag to your filter that will help raise raise your KH something else could be going like a bacterial gill disease with symptoms your describing I would do a course of maracyn  to cover all bases

    Ok will do

Hi, Cohen, if you can pick up some cheap test strips or an API test kit, it'll really save you some trips and heartache in the future. A lot of health issues with fish can come down to stress and water parameters, which make fish susceptible to disease. It's hard to judge what else is going on without water values.

Platy and other livebearers also tend to love harder water, so if your KH and GH are on the low side, they might be feeling a bit unhappy. But I wouldn't advise doing anything about that until we know your base values.

Yes, I have used test strips and kits. I had ran out at the moment and had ordered a new test kit. But I do not have at the moment now I am waiting. I had my water test at a pet store and they said the water was not the  issue and to give it a couple days. Now I have four platys that are acting completely fine along 2 otos and 2 corydoras in a 20 gallon tank. 2 platys out of 8 have died, and now 2 are acting weird and hanging out at the top of the surface. But the others are fine. What should I do now!  If it’s a KH or GH problem how can I fix that? Thank you
