  1. It’s kinda convoluted but there are series of tubs that are all connected via leveling siphons. I have upgraded since this picture from one inch to two inch diameter pipes for the leveling siphons. I can get the tubs for free and have since added three more and the bucket filter is based off one of your videos. It completes the circle so the water continuously flows in a circle and through all the tubs. The goldfish mainly stay in the black tub because that is where the auto feeder dumps out. I put a big sponge filter in that one. I I am always adding more tubs for more water capacity. The tubs sit under my greenhouse benches and I use a pond pump hooked to a water hose to do my plant watering/water changes. I added an automatic float valve that I hook up to another water hose so that I don’t have to worry about the siphons breaking. It’s one of those things that started with one tub and then another and then another. I can’t get a tub bigger than about the black one which is forty gallons through the door of greenhouse and I wanted to move my goldfish out there so thus I decided to connect them so that I could get the water dilution necessary for those guys. The greenhouse has an absolute minimum of 60 degF because of the orchids so I just keep the goldfish out there all year long. I live in SouthEastern Georgia so it’s pretty warm all year long anyways and the shade cloth protecting the orchids keeps the water from getting too hot as well. The greenhouse has a double layer of thick plastic and air is blown between them for insulation. It is 30 ft by 12 ft. I think the next time I have to replace the plastic I will put in some much larger tubs since I can just go through the sides and not be limited by the door width! Since they don’t really swim to other tubs through the bridges I am able to grow some aquarium plants out there too. I am still working on the koi situation because I know that even if I had unlimited tubs it would have the water volume but not the swimming space. Might just have to dig a proper pond for it! What a tragedy lol. A lesson to all should be do not impulse buy a koi when you don’t know anything about fish... I have always been a plant person so my plants are fine but I have made just about every other new fish keeper mistake you have ever made a video on! Thank you for those by the way. I think I have rambled on enough for one post at this point...
  2. Hi everyone! I am Jessica Spaid and I have been in the hobby since January 2020. My dad had a couple fish tanks when we were younger and I had turtles for a long time but I don’t really count that. In January I got a ten gallon tank at the dollar per gallon sale and plunked some fish and shrimp in. Sadly all of those creatures are no longer with us (read nitrogen cycle problems) but I didn’t give up. That tank is now a dedicated neo shrimp tank that are actually finally reproducing and not dying! I now have two more ten gallons and a twenty nine gallon that are all planted and slowly being taken over by my variatus platy colony. I have no idea how many there are now.... so many... I also have goldfish and one koi that live in big tub ponds in my greenhouse. I water my orchids with their water which has been working out well for the orchids. I am happy to be here and learn from you all.
