My blood parrot likes to hang out under and in this giant amazon sword I have. But, amazon swords take a while to get big (and boy do they get BIG), and they also require a lot of root tabs. For lower maintenance I agree on the java fern idea, though you will definitely have to dose with liquid ferts to keep it happy.

Edit: Oh also, do you have lots of caves for your BPs? They love hiding inside pots and vases.

YES! LOTS of caves and plants for them!

  2. Ok, I have this same plant, supposedly. It came from Petco in a tube. But mine has totally died, and I read in another forum that the b. heteroclita wasn't meant to be grown submerged. This is my before/after a month. in the water. Mine had little plantlets on the leaves, too, with little roots, but they've all just withered and melted.

But some leave are turning yellow. I don't know what kind they are: Petco said they were amazon sword? How do I take care of them properly? They are encased in a ball of some sort, with  Christmas moss around it. The roots are growing out of the balls at this point.
