Yes, we found the same. You have to do 2x lines and cross them out to avoid genetic issues. Long finned and balloon Rams might have some extra challenges in that regard too.
Thanks for the info, I'm going to do that next time

That's really cool. I did that with long fin gbrs and normal gold rams. By the 3rd generation the females were bigger than the males but I shut that down because I started noticing a bunch of health problems.

I agree with you 100%. Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi are so satisfying to breed and raise up. Every color morph is equally fascinating to work with.
Could I breed multiple or just one color morph though?

Mine would be German blue rams. They are a beautiful dwarf cichlid and have a decent amount of personality. They aren't as hard as to breed as people say they are. You just have to put alot more effort into it and that's what I like about them.

Ummm your not near the Indianapolis area are you?
This is the dad…1st pic he’s real pink, 2nd pic he’s about 6 months older and is more orange now. Notice how he’s more torpedo shaped like a mbuna
Then he breed with a red shoulder peacock and the fish center above the venustus is the offspringthen center/ right
Now the body is more shaped like a peacock. It looks as tho yours even has the blue patch behind the gills. Can’t really see it in these pics but the offspring has it too. that has to be your fishes sibling. LOL
when I bought the father it was sold as an OB that’s all they could tell me
I am no where near the Indianapolis area, but it does look like its a peacock and I'm super excited now. So thanks for all the help and support of iden him!!

Thanks for explaining the difference. I knew of OBs but didn't know that they were a hybrid between the two.

Looks like a peacock cichlid. Its a lake malawi african cichlid. Very beutifal fish.
You have no idea how happy that makes me, I paid $5 for it. If it is one, then that's the beat $5 I've ever spent.

It's the multi-color fish in the bottom center. I am new to African cichlids. I didn't buy it as a specific species I got it out of a tank labeled mixed Malawi and it was the only one in the tank I couldn't identify

MTS affects all age groups you are proof of that. 21 tanks and your 16? That is crazy awesome!!! Would love to see some pics of your tanks. Do you have a journal page?
No, I don't I would like to start one though. I just need to find time😂

Hi, I'm Ram Man. My MTS started when I was 12 years of age. It has been a 4 year battle and I currently have 21 tanks setup in my bedroom and don't have friends over because there isn't anything to do for people my age who don't have MTS. It's to the point that my first official job is working at my LFS, and I'm not making as much as I would like because I have fell in love with saltwater tanks and have 4 of them currently, but I get to educate costumers all day about fish ,so in conclusion MTS has ruined my socialifr but has given me more than any other addiction...... I mean hobby I have ever had.

What kind of filter is it? Depending on the filter you could put a prefilter box or various anemone cages that are out on the market.
Turning off a pump isn't a great idea because anemones are going to settle into a place where they have the appropriate flow for them. Going on and off is going to cause them to roam more than they need to, which can stress them out.
It is a seachem tidal 75. And thanks for the info about the turning off the wave maker did not know or think about it.
-
I bought a rose bubble anemone on Sunday and it was all good in the tank, I settled on a rock and It ate some mysis shrimp. I turned my wave maker off at night to keep it from getting sucked into it in case it decided to move during the night. I woke up this morning and couldn't find it in the tank so I started looking and found bits and pieces of it around the tank. My guess is that it got sucked up into the filter. Is there anyway to and proof a filter without it taking up alot of space and looking bad?

Are they reef safe? I only ask because I really want a Reed tank and I understand that if a puffer isn't reef safe then I'm not going to try and force it to work.

This is still in the realm of nano tanks for sw. Your best options are a pair of clowns, or some small gobies and tons of inverts.
That's what I was thinking but still wanted to make sure. Thanks for the advice.

Normal ocerlaris are great and all, but have your heard of maroon lightnings? Definitely a dream saltwater fish of mine, and with a great looking puffer, why not go all out?
I definitely have to get some now!

A sharpnose in a reef is going to be problematic. You're going to run into issues with the sharpnose attacking your clean upcrew overtime. That and they do pick at coral. Ontop of that a 29 is a bit small for them as well as other fish.
I understand, so do you have any other suggestions? I've never had a saltwater tank this big before and don't know how to start stocking it

You can never go wrong with some clowns and gobies.
That's what I was planning on doing, like getting a couple of normal ocelaris, and some diamond or watchman gobies

So this is my first time posting on the forum so I'm going to introduce myself first, I have 19 tanks setup in my bedroom, and I have 2 saltwater and working on my third and I'm trying to pick out tank mates for it. The main fish is going to be a central american sharpnose puffer. The tank is a 29 gallon and I want to do coral so I need reef safe fish. Thanks for any advice!

I'm not so sure how to post pictures but my favorite tetras are the bleeding heart, red eye tetras, and albino Congo tetras

It looks like some type of biofilm to me. Like sometimes when you put a piece of driftwood in a tank it just get coated in it, thats what might have happened to your tank.

Yesterday I took my first batch of platy fry to my local fish store. It was my first time ever selling and I was super nervous. Would they like them? Would I "do it right"? Would the fish transport nicely and show well once we got there? The store asked that I bag the fish in a gallon ziploc, and just for fun I used my USB nano air pump to throw an air stone in the bag for the 30 minute ride to the store. I think it helped make a positive impression when I delivered.
It was a great experience. The store owner LOVED all 10 fish and offered cash or store credit right out of the gate. I told her I'd happily take the store credit and would follow up soon to see how the fish did for her. She said she expects them to do great and hopes that I bring lots more, and said any other livebearers I wanted to breed would have a buyer waiting. I'm so encouraged.
I actually started breeding gbrs and was selling them to my lfs and then started breeding other fish such as guppies, redeye tetras, Beckfords pencilfish and white cloud minnows and they bought everything I could breed. That also got me a job working there. I also sell them gold rams to

As of right now guppies, I've been breeding rams for a few years and have finally gotten into guppies. And I love them so colorful, active and easy to breed. I'm only 16 tho so its gonna change real soon.

I've been breeding rams for about 3 years now and have learned that it usually takes 1-2 spawns for them to not eat the eggs or fry. I've also learned that they usually only take care of their fry for about 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
Are you a salty person?

I have 3 marine tanks and 1 reef tank. The reef tank I've just started about a month ago so it's not very impressive.
