Do you always use nuetral regulator? If not what made you choose to use it now?

    Did you remember dechlorinator?

Listing your normal water parameters and current water parameters are going to help folks help you.

Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph are the important ones.

My Ph has been high so that why I used it.

    Yes

Need a bit more info, size of tank, location (is it by a window), what kind of light are you using, and how long is it on?

Not that this helps you but..  wow, I wish I could get that green water 🙂

60 gallon tank. I use the Fluval Fresh and Plant 3.0 LED Light. It is on plant setting and goes about 9 pm.

  3. Hello,

For  Several weeks I been dealing with my tank water becoming super green. I've done a few water changes and just gets green after 2 to 3 days. I turn the lights off and it clears after a week but comes back when light are on. My plants are also dissolving. I use the iron, algae, easy green and flourish potassium.

From what I see, you'd need to test water parameters. I believe nitrogen is the deficiency. Knowing seachem fertilizers, nitrogen is really low in their comprehensive. The root tabs help, but the plants shown in the picture are mostly water column feeder.

If you were using easy green liquid fertilizer you'd want to keep 20ppm of nitrates in the tank.

I will try it thank you!!

It could be lack of light on the lower leaves, but I would still vote potassium. If your tested nitrates are over 20ppm, you can get/dose potassium separately. I have a few tanks that have lots of Java fern and anubias and they just preferentally suck it up. Of course my water is low on minerals also. You can also trim and replant the tops of that plant--the bottom leaves won't recover but if you add more fertilizer it should prevent holes from recurring.

What could I get for potassium?

I'd go ahead and start feeding lightly, but also keep testing your water daily and do water changes as needed to keep your combined ammonia and nitrites ideally below 0.5 ppm, but definitely below 1.0 ppm.

I did another water change tonight and before I tested the water and it went up! Should I start feeding light and hope to let the bacteria grow and doing water changes everyday ? . I'm currently using Fluval biological booster.

Welcome to fish keeping. If you are not familiar with the nitrogen cycle here is a really good place to start.

Your Tank needs to build up beneficial bacteria in order to process the the ammonia. There are some products to help get this going, some seem to work better than others. I have not had luck with API's version, but Tetra Safe start seemed to work. The biggest factor is time. Try to feed lightly and keep testing and keep up with water changes.

First tanks always seem hard, but like anything else it gets easier with some practice.

Ok i will try that thank you for the help !

fish can go a very long time without food, so not to worry unless there are very young fry. how are you testing for ammonia, and what water conditioner are you using if any?

I been using the API testing kit. And been using the API tap water conditioner.

Jorge, how long has your tank been up and running. Are you new to fish keeping? Have you changed filter media or made any other changes that may have crashed your cycle?

Yes im about a month new to this. I have not done any filter media change. The tank is about 3 weeks old.

  10. Can someone help me please. My tank had a very high ammonia spike reaching at 4.0. I have done 50% water change for the last 5 days with no feeding. It has drop down to 1ppm. All my fish are still alive and well. My only concern is that they have been off with out food and I'm afraid they will die. It is a 60 gallon tank. 8 juili cory, 5 pleco and 4 Molly. My question is should I keep doing the water changes with out feeding until 0 ammonia is shown? Or is there anyother suggestions ?
