I don't have any suggestions but if you don't mind sharing, where did you buy the aquarium? Also, what light are you using? I have a 75 that is in need of a better light. Thanks for sharing. Awesome aquarium! What fish are you going to add after resealing?

    Hey Patrick,

I got the tank off fb marketplace! The light for the tanks underneath is just a 4ft fluro light and I just have some cheap LED eBay lights for the 6ft. I've got some mbuna in there at the moment with a featherfin and some bristlenose. Very lightly stocked so far... think I need to add some more to curb some of the aggression.

  2. Hey guys,

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are regarding benefial bacteria. Specifically whether there would be a big die off due to a large temp drop.

When setting up a new tank I like to 'kickstart' it by using media from an already cycled aquarium. If I fill the tank with water at say 10 degrees celcius (50f) and put the media straight in from a tank sitting at 25 degrees (77f) will there be a large die off?

    Interested to hear peoples thoughts!

  3. Hey everyone!

Turns out my 6ft tank has a very very small leak in it. So time to reseal! I have used a razor blade to remove all the old silicone and have the new stuff (aquarium safe) ready to go.

This is my first time resealing a tank so does anyone have any suggestions?

Here are some photos (sorry for the poor quality):

  4. Hi everyone!

Here are some photos of some of my collection of fish! I am currently running 7 tanks and one pond! With one more 6ft tank almost ready! From Tamania, Australia where the fish keeping hobby appears to be much much smaller than that of the US. Not even sure there is a single store which only sells aquarium/fish stuff! I haven't been fishkeeping 'intensively' (of course this is relative) for very long, probably only 1 year since I have been running more than 1 tank - but have been keeping fish since I was about 10 (now 20). Very excited for this forum and to be able to interact with other fish hobbyists! I am currently studying at university and working part time at a cafe :).

    My 3ft - The silver dollar will be moved into my 5ft x 2ft x 2ft shortly! :

My angel pair - have laid eggs a few times but never managed to raise them (I wonder whether my school of serpae tetras is the reason...):

My 5ft x 2ft x 2ft - the africans will be moving to the 6ft shortly to make room for the silver dollars and perhaps an oscar or two:
