Otherwise, I'd just pump up your school of false julii, nothing wrong with a double-species tank.

A larger group of cories will display more natural behavior, and the tank won't look so busy!

For algae control... Try decreasing the amount of lighting hours on your timer first and carefully monitor how much you feed.

I've used fishing tie, rubber bands, zip ties, and wedging the roots between a rock and a hard place. All will work. Recently I took Irene's wonderful tip of using super glue gel and I'm sticking with that mostly nowadays.

If you had to choose ONLY ONE genus of plant to scape with for a new tank, which genus of plant would you choose?
I would likely go with either the cryptocoryne or anubias genus. There's so many different different species (AND SUBSPECIES) with differing sizes/colors/textures to them, the possibilities are endless 😎

What sorta plants have you been trying? From the sounds of it you are trying to use floaters so the neons will feel more covered with floater roots providing hiding spots. I would suggest frogbit and water lettuce, these 2 are robust and can often take a beating. I also agree with Colu on the anubias. Get some big anubias barteri, it's unlike to be chomped because it's so thick. They can be left floating or attached to anything.

I use both the classic and the clip-on ones. They work very well for low-medium light plants. I haven't yet have to replace any and it's been years! Huge fan of Nicrew especially their affordability 🙂

I work as a conservation biologist, This Fall my team has planted over 1000 trees and restored quite a lot of area around degraded riparian areas 🙂 Satisfying work, and then I spend that money on my own little ecosystems at home hehehe *binges ohko stones and bucephalandra* 👉👈

Oh man I love to watch anime haha. I've been trying to merge anime and fish tanks together for some time now 🤣

I also love playing some acoustic guitar, photography, animation, and volley-ball! Pretty random things but... I guess I keep myself quite entertained 🙂

This is a great idea! I would imagine it may take a while to actually implement it.

Also, there are fishkeepers on this forum with 20x more experience than myself, I would love for them to teach and I think we would all benefit more from that! 🤣 I'm still quite the novice myself with a lot to learn.

Just the 3 that immediately came to mind that are slightly bigger dithers but amazing in schools of bigger tanks are:

1) Bosemani rainbows

2) Bleeding heart tetras

3) Emperor tetras

Also, fishing line works, general fabric thread, and heck I've even used rubber bands. Also if you can stuff it in or between pieces of wood and rock, that works too because they'll take to their surroundings and attach themselves over a few weeks.

My name is Chris and it's getting chilly in Canada. I'm on the West coast so the weather here may be quite mild compared to more central locations in this country. Still, I complain that the summers are too hot and the winters are too cold. I know, I'm spoiled.
