  1. I ended up taking them back just to avoid future strife. Got a refund and got some dwarf gouramis and a couple otos ( I hope they IDed them right and they're not SAE) that should do far better in a twenty gallon planted, but thank you for trying to help.
  2. That's good, at least. these gals seem fairly large, though. The size at the pet store compared to what tanks I had THERE for comparison made me think "yeah, these could do twenty gallons" But apparently it's not recommended?
  3. They seem mature sized as it is, twice the size or so of my rice fish. Oof
  4. Five, they SEEM to be females because no swords, I have filtration for up to fifty gallons, hang on filter on my twenty gallon tank, and I have many live plants. I'm just worried the rice fish will get picked on or worse?
  5. Hi, I'm new here and I have a question about a group of Montezuma swordtails I just purchased for a twenty gallon . . AS you can probably guess, the issue is that most sources say 30 gallons minimum for a group, but I already have these guys and they seem pent up in their bag. I have rice fish as well, that seem to be half the size. So, should I release them into the tank, just to return them, keep them in their bag ( with top open ) and try to return them tomorrow if they accept returns, or try to make this work? I'd greatly appreciate any help on this time-sensitive mess I've got myself into and I'll do my research before purchasing fish again. x.x;
