  1. Is there a specific Epsom salt brand I should buy?
  2. Hello folks, I ran to a problem after my male medaka rice fish did his first spawn. His male organs are sticking out and idk if there's a solution for it? Water is fine and never had a problem until he try to spawn. He was successful and places the eggs on plants.
  3. Yep! Weirdly, I don't have to do any cold water changes to trigger them to breed. I give them blood worms or tubular worms and they would spawn the next morning.
  4. Update, I FINALLY HAVE EGGS AND BABIES! I was doing some spring tank cleaning today and found few eggs on plants. Im pretty confident there are more somewhere in the tank. I think the problem was the females weren't mature just yet. The females have double in size since my last update.
  5. Update I sat up all morning watching my Corydoras do their mating dance and T-shapes. Lol the males definitely into the mating. They were bugging the fat females, but my female didn't seem to care and didn't lay any eggs. 😂
  6. Update Im gonna try to do 2 male and 1 female in a breeding tank to see if I have better luck.
  7. It could be that they're eating their eggs? I guess I will have to sit and watch them finish. Their tank started to clear up now. I'll also double check the plants too. 🥲 Corys are harder to breed than I thought.
  8. Update, Still no eggs, separate the adults from the tank, but no babies and no eggs. Added them back into the tank. I have recently try 90% water change with cold water. I check all the added plants in the tank. I didnt see any eggs. Now im doubting that I have a male out of the 7 that I have or im just having bad luck. 🥲😔
  9. Should I be worried? For example, My white cloud minnows always seem to co-exist and breed with the scud in their tank.
  10. I know from a lot of breeders that said that scuds and red cherry shrimp eat fish eggs? I have never ever seen them eat them. I have seen them clean them and toss them aside after they clean them. Is that weird behavior for them?
  11. Im crossing my fingers that another breeder can share their advice 🙂🤞
  12. Yes, I have watch these videos 🙂. I actually watch these before getting CPDs. The videos are nice, but it just doesn't give me the answer of why they arent having fertile eggs. Great information about setup though.
  13. Interesting, I might increase my male count because I don't think have 2 males are doing their job. My females are definitely laying great number of eggs.
  14. Im starting to run into that problem too. The first spawn was great, I had 10 fertile eggs that hatch and are healthy. All the other attempts have been very little fertile eggs and lot of unfertile. Here's my setup. I have a java moss in a plastic container in the back where they spawn in. Every morning I would take it out and grab the eggs. I also have a heater that keeps it 72F-75F. I have 7 CPDs, 2 Males and 5 Females.
  15. Any tips how to reduce the number of infertile eggs? I have notice that my CPDs eggs are turning out infertile. There'll be 2 fertile eggs for every 10 eggs.
  16. I'll pull them out to see if any of the eggs survive.
  17. I got a infestation of snails in a few of my tanks. I was gonna get some assassin snails to eat them. I was just curious if assassin snails eat fish eggs? Atm Im just trapping and picking out snails.
  18. Updated, I kinda of just left the tank to just go wild and green. I add a few frogbit and parameters are good. Weeks later, while I was doing fishroom maintenance, out of no where they started to T-shape each other and doing the mating ritual. I was like wth? So water changes didnt work, pH change didn't work, and temperature change didn't work. But just leaving them, doing nothing and letting the tank go wild cause a trigger. Idk what trigger their breeding? Now im stuck ponding how am I gonna find their eggs in this green water. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂😂😂
  19. Update, So far no luck. I'm gonna try to add a lot plants to see if anything change. At the moment, I have been busy working on my CPDs since I recently had a lot of success. I am gonna try again.
  20. Update! I have a bunch of baby CPDs climbing the walks of my the breeder box. 😄
  21. Thanks for the information! I do have a airstone in my hatch containers, they are set on low. Turns our that the one of the baby CPD started to free swim. The other one unfortunately die, but it's a learning experience. I decide to increase the dose of methylene blue in the hatch containers. I think I didn't add enough. Crossing my fingers it will work. I'm gonna try your method of just putting the eggs in the grow out tank with a seasoned sponge filter. I do that with my White Cloud minnows, but I wasn't sure if it was gonna work the the CPDs.
  22. Update Yall 😅 So the eggs in the breeder box keep fungusing over. I been keeping eye on them removing any of them that are looking fizzy. I have another container that has methylene blue, which is more successful, but I have to do more work removing babies that hatch into a different container. Atm I have just 2 that successful hatch, but are taking a LONG time to get to free swimming. Their still laying down and rolling. Sometimes I think this are dead but once I move the container, they start wiggling. I don't how it takes for CPD to be free swimming.
  23. Just wondering? How cold should the water change be? How many degrees F?
  24. I have been feeding my corydoras consistently and the females are displaying that they have eggs. I have done a water change, but nothing change. I think I might have to be patience about it. Or maybe they are eating their eggs? The corydoras diet consist of Freeze Dried Tubifex Worms, Frozen blood worms, and Algae Wafers (For fiber).
