It's a 15g tank hob I have to find some leafs no where has them I'll have to order some. Even with the babies I probably only have in the same time 20 to 30. Tank was set up for around a year or more before I put them in. Oh one mystery snail lives in there with them

SAEs get big tho. They reach 6 inch, so not really suitable for most nano tanks. Also they are known to be territorial as adults. So I would advice adding one more or keeping one. Generally 2 is a risky number for territorial fish I would say. Increases the chance of being bullied a lot.

I'll be honest, it took some time to decide if I wanted to start a journal. The most upfront reason was, what the heck are they and I've never journaled before? But as I thought about it, I remembered how some of the most beneficial help I ever received was from some obscure article, where some random guy, seemingly from nowhere, replied with the solution I needed. So, the purpose of my journal is to try to be that random guy, who randomly comments, and hopefully has the answer to your problem. But in the form of a journal!

You might ask, who is this guy? And I ask myself the same question all the time,<wink>and the only response I can honestly say is; I was a kid who loved fish tanks. So much so, that at age 12, I took my Schwinn bike and went to my local fish store and bought a 55 gallon aquarium. I put that darn thing in my lap and on top of the handle bars and rode 2 miles home. I then went back and under my 1 arm, carried every piece of equipment I needed, in multiple trips, for my first salt water fish tank. A few months later, I had a 20 gallon fresh water tank. I can honestly say. I did pretty well for being so young. I rarely had deaths, I grew some corals, I killed a lot of corals and my fish did pretty well. Without that experience, I would have never learned the single most important information I could have possibly learned and that is: everything I learned 30 years ago is completely irrelevant in todays fish keeping. And anyone one who says, "I've been keeping fish for 30 years" is suspect!

After several moves around the country and 30 years later, I found myself back in the hobby and here my journal starts. A buddy of mine, who has been in the hobby for 30 years <---- had the most amazing black water tank. I mean stunning. So he convinces me to start back up, and I did. "I need that sexy blackwater tank", I said, and I went out and bought a 75 gallon, a 40 gallon two 20 gallons and a 10 gallon. This is when I learned the second most important information I ever learned. More than 2 tanks is way too much work! So I sold the 10 and converted 1 of the 20 gallons to a QT tank. All those tank were black water, and boy did I love them. But something happened, something that changes everything! I bought a plant. And today, I have no black water tanks!

Here is the main tank today.

  5. Can any tell me if these are safe worms/nematodes to feed my puffers they have been in my spring tail colony for a long time they live in water I know some nematodes are safe and some are not even to be around humans about 4 days ago I did start pulling some and adding to a cup with clean water they look just like my nematodes in my tanks but I'm just not sure. The ones in the cup are living just fine in the cup with about 5 inches of water with a thin layer of substrate I been feeding them fish food every 3ed day

  6. Yep.. plus there just going into other tanks I have the 1st set of babies are about 60 days old I started with only 5 shrimp I have about 15 now not including theses babies was going to wait till I had about 40 or 50 before I started pulling any

  7. That's what I'm thinking acting vary slow unless I feed hang at the top only in a few spots. I'll have to watch I'm going to pull her as soon as I see the fry. I really don't want to lose this line 1st fish I ever tried to breed and the combo I made is just the colors I wanted

  8. New baby shrimp this is the 2ed time in probably 30 days or so I need to start writing stuff down. Maybe one more birth and I can start culling for color they are so small.. my substrate doesn't help there color

  10. Yes 20 to 30 is the minimum for the sae it's is a better option then the flag fish sucks vary few fish eat it like them. I do notice my 2 well the 1 chasing the other in my 55 keeping to to the left side when I feed I think is because the algae is gone mine was out of control there around 3 to 4 inches iv only had them about 30 days now. They Don't bother the green neon or white clouds thankfully is it true that they can suck the slime coat of bottom dwellers

  11. She has been hanging out at the birthing center should be any day now. She is the baby of the 1st fish I ever breed she was born 4/1/21 was down to my last male and female in this line I'm trying to make I hope everything goes well. There father was a all orange and the mom was a purple Russian I really want to keep this line going

  12. Hello. I just got pea puffers around 5 days ago I believe one is male because it has a strip running down its tail. And the other don't. Iv not seen the girl eat at all and the boy dose chase her but iv not seen him peck her. This morning she was on the side of the sponge filter I thought I lost her but when I nudge her she started swimming fine I'm worried ph is a Lil high for them at 7.6 and the water is a Lil hard too. Every thing else is good. There in a 20g standard any insight would be gr8 thanks.. I have been looking for almond leafs but no luck I may drive to a petco a hr or so away and try out of town because there are none around me.

  13. Planning in my head for a year.  only thing I don't like is the waterfall but it's all removable. 2 inch 95 gallon pump I'll be happier when the moss and water plants grow in on the waterfall and becomes a living filter

  14. Look like pothos. Yeah this fan looks pretty good for $25 has a humidity gage sensor you drop in the tank and you set it to come on and off at what ever humidity you want. I'll in corerate in to the lid. Says 2 year warranty it's new to the market I don't think it's a competition with co op but I and them don't like posting products here it's in on the biggest web seller in probably the world I'll probably put a fogger in the water fall
