  1. I'll try and get a photo of the other side of him and a good full tank shot in the morning. Will also check parameters so they're the most updated. Thanks for the help so far
  2. The rocks all feel smooth enough, and there hasn't been any issues yet. The lid is sort of dome shaped so I don't think he could reach it. As long as it isn't looking like something more than him injuring himself, I'll be happy. He was sick and tried dying on me when I got him and now I'm paranoid..but he also likes to get into any and all trouble.
  3. This fish is going to be the death of me. Noticed Leviathan has somehow done damage to his head. He was fine last night and this morning. The side not pictured looks like it's also missing a scale but a bit deeper, but it doesn't look like a hole in head hole. There shouldn't be any spots in the tank where he can get stuck as I've made the spaces big enough for the snail, who's larger. I'm really just wondering if anyone knows what it looks like because this fish is really trying me. (Darker red is the usual head colour).
  4. In all honesty, I'm only considering it as a money save. I have a 20g right now so definitely not enough to transfer over. I've read a lot of people complaining about trying to keep it clean, etc.
  5. I do have a bunch of plants to put in it, but it's going to be a low tech tank, so nothing too elaborate. Thought about capping it with sand as I'm looking into corys as an eventual add. Current fellows that'll be moving into it are one betta and one mystery snail. With my sand and gravel I've only ever rinsed them beforehand, but I've also never had stuff that was in a tank previously. Leaving it out in the sun to dry sounds like the most appealing idea..except we've hit rainy season here so who knows when I'll see the sun again 😞 I have a good stock of meds on hand, but I am still paranoid about the betta catching anything. He ended up having the beginning of ick when I got him and had a very long battle with that and swim bladder issues. Genuinely did not expect him to survive. Now I'm a paranoid mother.
  6. Back again with another newbie question. I'm sorry if I didn't put this in the right category..I wasn't sure. I recently got a second hand 33g tank and the lady gave me a hefty amount of either fluval stratum or something similar in looks (she didn't say). I'd really hate to throw it out because jeez is it a lot of it, but I'm also hesitant to use it. Is trying to clean this stuff a good idea? How do I even go about it? I've never used this stuff before. I've noticed some people saying you can gently rinse it, but others saying it's a terrible idea to. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  7. Yeah everything I was reading only mentioned going up to 12 drops and I'm over here like uhhhh. I JUST bought the kit, the date on it is still good for quite awhile. We're on well water but just moved to the area so I genuinely don't know anything about the water.
  8. He gets blanched zucchini (his fave), kale, carrot and cucumber on rotation along with algae wafers. Also going to try making snello soon for the first time.
  9. Thank you! I haven't had snails since I was a kid, so I'm paranoid momming a lot because I just love this little guy.
  10. It's the same shell since the beginning of October. He seems happy, only thing I've just started noticing is some spotting on his shell. Like small dark spots? pH is never below 7, last test was 7.2-7.4. I try and keep it higher but it really doesn't want to stay there.
  11. New here so hopefully I'm doing this right. I finally got an API GH KH test kit for my mystery snail aquarium. It took me 26 drops for the GH to change to green. I've been trying to figure out if that's too much, if I did something wrong, etc but I can't seem to. I've had a wonder shell in there since Oct 6th. I know snails like hard water, but can it be TOO hard? Bonus photo of Maurice.
