CJs Aquatics
Hello everyone, does anyone have any info that could lead me towards cheaply making my own decent looking and functioning spawning brush, or something I could purchase that serves the same purpose? I posted this question in breeding bc the brush will hopefully serve to help some pesky egg layers get in the mood to mate…
AnimalNerd98
The Co-Op has an article on it: https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/spawning-mop I have both yarn spawning mops and the ricefish spawning mops. Instead of using corks for the yarn mops, I just use a cut piece of pool noodle as the floater. TheSwissAquarist
I'm devoted to either water lettuce or java moss.

But when I want to incubate the eggs in a separate container without a light, I use the spawning mops so I don’t have to worry about the water lettuce breaking down and disintegrating in the incubation tank. Java moss is better, but sometimes it can sluff off things into the water. Edited September 27, 2022 by AnimalNerd98
TheSwissAquarist
Very clever @AnimalNerd98! I didn’t know that you can spawn fish on maps! I agree water lettuce rotting is a problem.

Cinnebuns
I use the yarn spawning mops both floating and sinking and have a bunch of success with them. The species I use them with is panda cories and forktail rainbowfish.
